Does this one support the monitor feature?

Asked by: Anonymous
yes, but being battery operated would have a limited duration of use. Would need to purchase the AC adaptor if you plan to use this feature extensively. You could setup one of the channels for the monitoring so you could switch to it from another unit when desired.

Can you call remote to remote?

We need to call not only base (kitchen) to Master bedroom, but also master bedroom to upstairs, or upstairs to basement. How would this be done?
Asked by: Anonymous
When a call it initiated, all other units will receive the broadcast and hear the call, except any units such as the portables or doorbell that are set to "Call Only". When any other unit answers the call, a private secure channel is created between the two and no other unit. If any units are in "Conference Mode" they will be able included in this secure channel and be able to hear the entire conversaion.

We need intercom that connects two different buildings; home and garage that is about 10' away from the home. Will this intercom work. If not, what

would you recommend?
Asked by: Anonymous
I would not recommend it. Our unit couldn't transmit consistently across a small house, less than 50 feet.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from too much delay required to talk and listen We bought these units through Home Depot. The price and features seem amazing compared to other intercoms, but there are other Cons to this unit. It is not superclear, but we didn't mind that, There is a huge 5 second delay when you push the button to talk, use the VOX feature or even the Monitor Feature. You miss the beginning of what the person has said. Any kid under the age of 17 will never have the patience to use this intercom and refrain from yelling down or up the stairs. The Monitor feature is pretty useless compared to a $20 baby monitor. We are returning this unit and looking into BabyMonitors with a Talk Intercom Feature so there is not such a huge delay and miss hearing your kids' reply.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very disappointed - doesn't work often This is a very simple unit. Problem is you have to speak very close to the unit, but not too close, speak loudly but not too loud and press the button with just the right amount of pressure to activate it. What's worse, even though there were just two rooms separating them (less than 50 ft) they would frequently lose communication with each other and flash incessantly- very annoying to wake up in the middle of the night with a flashing blue light next to your bed. Once signal is lost, it can be very hard to re establish. Because of the light flashing problem, batteries wear out quickly adding to the problem of losing signal.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Bettery Life If one wants a truly wireless intercom forget this intercom. Battery life is about 40 hours for the monitoring unit. I have put several sets of new alkaline batteries as well as lithium batteries in the monitoring unit. I have communicated with Chamberlain several times and they have shipped me 2 new units, but that didn't help with battery life. The receiving unit has an annoying hum. My previous Chamberlain units worked fine, but I got tired of hearing the BEEP before the sound that activated the unit. The only other solution suggested was buy an AC adapter. This is no solution since I don't have access to an electric outlet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Intercom system I've seen A very good and very flexible intercom system. Just remember to wait for the beep to start talking. 12 units in three buildings on our property and it works fine. Now we can also answer the door no matter where we are on the property as well as hear the doorbell. The security and privacy is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Decent intercom for the price The Chamberlain intercom works well. Much better than the Westinghouse units that use your power wiring. The only shortcomings are that it doesn't include 12 volt adapters, which are needed if you don't want to keep changing batteries, and the intercom doesn't have a paging feature.
