Customer Questions & Answers

How do I know what is the right motor for this unit?

Is there a unit that comes with a preinstalled motor?
Asked by: Zees62
The 3000 DD uses a 1/3 HP motor. Using anything larger than this can cause water entrainment. You can special order the part from Home Depot using the manufacturer part number 110444 for the single speed, and 110445 for the two speed motor.

Can power be routed down inside the cabinet through the air discharge?

Asked by: Jerry
despite what others say, there are holes cut inside specifically for this purpose, they are designed specifically to run your electric and water lines in through the ducting to get them within the trusses ( that means you'll have to drill a hole in the ducting also). with that in mind, make sure you get the appropriate grommets so as the vibrations don't cut into the lines.

What is the size of the discharge duct? Are there any rebates avaliable for this item?

Asked by: Doug
The duct width is 13.63" and the duct height is 13.63". You can check the manufacturer's website for information on cooler rebates. https://www.essickair.com/media-room/cat/articles/post/evaporative-cooler-rebates/

What it doesn't say is that the float, motor clamp, water line and ends (everything else except for the knob to turn it on) is included. It does not have the deflector that is on the front of most side draft coolers. Works great, just ask our 8 days of 100+ degree temperatures. Kept the house at a little under 80 degrees, that was a 28 degree difference on one of the days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Improve cooling with aspen pads For those who didn't experience enough cooling, assuming that you are in a dry climate where evap coolers work best: If you haven't used aspen pads in your unit, I highly recommend that you install them. I live in Albuquerque where summer days are often in the high 90s. The old Champion window unit wouldn't cool below 84 degrees until I switched to aspen pads, which cooled to the low 70s. Astounding difference! Blue pads are pretty much useless, IMO. I also found a plug-in programmable thermostat at Home Depot which worked great.
