Customer Reviews

4700 CFM 2-Speed Window Evaporative Cooler for 1600 sq. ft. (with Motor) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dropped my July bill 75 percent I knew this was a little undersized for our home, but it fit in the budget and we hoped it would be enough. It's been fantastic. We couldn't be happier with the performance. I installed a drain pump as well that empties the water every 8 hours and I think that has really made it great. Our typical August bill is around $400; according to SCE this one will be $130. Good cooling, great savings, little/no maintenance. Exactly what I was looking for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This cooler is so powerful and cool! I have air conditioning through out my home, however, my bill in summer was sky-high. I bought this evaporative cooler and it is so powerful! It cools my home perfectly, my plants are thriving, and the best deal is: I can run it day and night without my electric bill jumping the charts.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We really like this unit We have had evap coolers for over 30 years. This is our 3rd Champion. They have a great product, except ours came with a dent on the roof, and a bolt was missing on the motor support. I repaired both problems. The units are simple in construction are are cost effective to run. I sprayed auto undercoating inside the pan to extend the life of the cooler.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from works perfectly Ordered it on line, was delivered after reasonable time, had a professional install it, and it is working great! Yes I can recommend this one for a single wide mobile home or similar sized house. It may work well in a double wide mobile too. So far I havn't had to use the high speed setting!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Problems Without Remote Control Last time around Home Depot only sold the unit with the remote control. I highly recommend staying away from that unit. I had nothing but trouble with it. I read a review here where a customer couldn't figure out why his unit all of a sudden quit working - it's the remote control switch! The company quickly replaced the switch which quit working in 4 days. Rather than go through that again I asked for a regular switch and they accommodated me right away - their customer service is excellent. That unit was jinxed and only lasted 3 years. With this one I have had no problems and I recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Recommend Manuel Switch Unit Previously had remote unit went through 3 switches in a 2yr period. Manuel switch unit produces the same affect with the possibility of replacing a switch that is almost a $100.00 to replace. Champion coolers use to be made of a thicker grade a steel, only time will tell how long this will last before it rusts out. Because on the thinner material I coated the whole interior with a coating prior placing it in operation. Also recommend installing the water flushing pump versus using the drip water to help keep fresh water in the unit. Highly recommend using a swamp cooler in the dryer climates this WC50 unit does just fine in my 2700 sq ft home in triple digit temps. Keeps my house in the 70`s.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This products quality has declined noticeably in the past few years while the price has increased significantly. Product arrived damaged but store it was shipped to was able to replace that part. Once installed more damage to the vent was noticed and the fan housing had a space between it and the wall that allowed water to spray through the air vent into the house. Also the adjustable air vent plastic grill makes too much noise unless adjusted to point to either side and never straight which is very inefficient and inconvenient.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I had one of these- lasted 12 years with minimal maintenance eventually it rusted out, but the motor still worked. Evaporative coolers can be great! But not for area's where the humidity is all ready high. So they are ideal for desert or arid places. They are low cost to run. Work best when filters are changed Before they clog up. In Riverside, Ca. I run mine in the garage all day from 10am to 6pm when the out side temps get to 90degrees- my dogs love it. My Champion Evap. Cooler lasted 12 years- will get another one. A good value. Aslo, remember to oil the bearings every two weeks- only takes a minute. After 10 years the motor worked great. But alas, the bottom rusted out.
