Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A good minimalist generator Most Americans buy generators the way they buy guns and motorcycles: they look for the biggest, baddest thing out there, assuming that "bigger must be better." But if you've ever purchased a generator before, only to discover that having 4,000-6,000 watts was a total waste of energy and fuel, then this is the rig for you. I bought one of these for field work and RV use and thus far it has solidly performed to spec. There were a few minor flaws that worried me at first--a dented valve cover and a poorly aligned isolation pad on the underside--but the Champion puts out steady voltage and is indeed thrifty on fuel consumption. I was frankly disappointed that they would put something into a box with obvious dents in it because this speaks to their factory quality control standards. (There were no corresponding dents on the outside of the box, so it was obviously dented at the factory and shipped that way.) Even so, the little 80cc engine runs very solidly and reliably. I also did some research and discovered that the Chinese manufacturer is one of the main OEM suppliers for some major diesel manufacturers, so they're not turning out junk; the two-year warranty speaks to this. For the money, this is an excellent value that gets the job done. It's not as silent as a Honda or Yamaha, but very tolerable noise-wise, and it should last many years with proper, common-sense maintenance. Also be aware that, because the engine is small, if you give it too much of an electrical load it will noticeably stumble. This is not a 'quality' issue as some reviewers might suggest, it is simple physics! Don't plug in more of an electrical load than it is designed for (1200 watts) and you'll be quite happy with it. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PERFECT small utility generator for hand tools Great Value! If you just want a small PORTABLE generator to run power tools somewhere that no electricity is available this is for you! Keep in mind this is a very small unit and it will only run a skill saw by itself and no other power tools with high amp ratings. Its perfect for a small camp generator and very fuel efficient. I fly RC airplanes and this is the PERFECT generator to run battery chargers to keep you RC equipment always charged. It is very quite and portable and is BETTER in my opinion than the smaller two stoke models found at the tool outlet stores and runs at half the RPM of a two stroke generator for about the same cost. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good basic generator Unit arrived well packaged and undamaged. We inspected the unit and installed the vibration dampers, filled with oil and gasoline, and it cranked on the third pull. After about 20 seconds the engine settled down, and we plugged in a large fan with no issues. We ran the unit for a couple of hours and had no problems. I like the fuel shut-off that allows the carburetor to completely empty of gasoline. The analog voltmeter showed a steady 120v, but I think the fuel gauge is broken due to the fact it never moved the entire time - or the unit is super fuel efficient. Not a big deal, since no other generator I've owned has had a gauge. Basic, no-frills unit that gets the job done. September 4, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great little generator for small jobs. I purchased this to run hand tools when I was away from a power supply instead of dragging my big generator out. It has done great with the thing that I have used so far. Mainly a pole saw that converts into a small chain saw. I had no issue with the starting or having enough power to run the tools. The only thing that I would of done different is maybe buy a little larger one. The quality of this is well built and a good design. The weight is light enough that you can tote it by yourself and easily with two people. It cranks when it is cold with no problems and when it is hot. You will use very little gas with it. I did notice that if you tilt it up on the side the gas will leak out of the gas cap especially if the tank is full. If they will seal the gas cap I would of given it a 5 star. December 10, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Champion generator Excellent generator .It is not as quiet as a Honda but it is not much lauder. We have the 1800/1400 watts newer one we have used for camping to power our pop up trailer and we are 100% satisfied with it. There are several videos on You tube on this generator December 17, 2013
