How many Decibles at full power & on eco-mode?

Did not see this information listed under the Specifications
Asked by: HouseMouse01
Econ mode idling is listed at 53dba on the Amazon site. I've had it running next to Yamaha and Honda units and it's on par with them. We run 1 to several fans off the unit and they are louder than the generator!! Hasn't been enough draw to take it off econ idle mode yet.. I haven't seen anybody listing a full power dba rating. I've got a dba meter on order for another job and if I remember I'll update later.

Can I plug a 30 amp travel trailer directly into this generator to charge the battery and run the interior lights.

Asked by: Brian1967
As long as your camper's battery charging system does not exceed the rated wattage of the generator, there is no issue with this.

will it run a microwave

will it run a microwave
Asked by: studridge
it depends ... you should check the wattage on your microwave. If you are below 1600w, I think you will be fine.

Happy with product, impressed by Brian Downs@Champion for his technical support [before AND after the purchase] and Home Depot for bringing us this GREAT generator. I have been a Honda generator user for 30 years. I still have a EX1000 and EX5500 running but we live off grid now and find that the older ones weren't doing as well with gas consumption. Also, we fried some lights since these old ones are not "clean" sine wave generators. So we looked at a lot of reviews and found that Champion looked like the created a solid running product and their support appeared to be top notch. So far, we can confirm both of those attributes. We live off grid so our generator isn't for shortages or black outs. Our generators are used daily for 2-8 hours/day. We started contacting Champion through their website on the larger 75537i 3100w inverter. We emailed them many times and always got a quick response to our questions. We liked the wattage on the larger Champion but decided on the smaller 73536i. We liked that it was more portable and the wattage 1700 would take care of most daily things and cost less than half the price. AND if we need more power, we would get a second one with the parallel kit and get the extra wattage for summer time A/C running. So we ordered online on Dec. 26th and we picked it up on Jan. 5th. Took a bit long, so used to "got to have it overnight." But Home Depot price matched thru chat online and we weren't in a big hurry so all is good. We get this, open it up and it looks really clean and well put together. Follow the simple instructions to become acquainted with everything and it was time to add oil. Champion gives you the exact amount of oil you need in the box, super cool! We open up the back cover which looked a bit ajar and found the inside panel was cracked in shipping or before. Oh sad face... but we contacted support [the same people we wrote before we bought a Champion product] and they handled our issue with the utmost expediency and professionalism. I could have brought it back to Home Depot and waited for another unit but Champion said they would ship me the part directly, which was better for me. Otherwise, I would have to haul this back in the box 45 minutes to get to Home Depot and wait for a replacement. Two weeks have gone by: Champion sent me the parts as promised but I have not changed the part yet due to so much rain right now. We have been using this daily and even my under 100 lb. 14 year old girl can get this started on the second pull. My wife said she liked the pull much better than our my small Honda EX1000. It has a smoother and easier pull. And much much easier than our neighbors Ryobi 1800/2200 unit. The Ryobi feels like it "SNAPs" back at you when you pull. This 736i is pretty quiet but when we go to ECONOMY mode, the idle drops. We plugged in our home/trailer and the generator revved up a bit but settled back down to Economy mode but now and then it sort of revs up like it might go into high speed but doesn't. Guess we are on the edge of Economy wattage needs. Well we filled the tank up with 1 gallon and it ran almost 9 hours and I decided to fill it up again. Don't know how much was left but that was great performance compared to my old Honda EX1000. The Honda used about 1 gal/4 hours of run time. So we are using less than half the gas right off the bat! The unit is quieter than the Honda and even though the generator feels a bit big and boxy it is relatively easy to carry due to the design of the stackable frame. It feels like I have a good hold of the generator when I pick it up. So overall, very, very happy with Home Depot to price match, Champion for excellent customer service before and after the purchase and the generator does the job. By the way, I used to sell Honda generators. As cliche as it may sound, "i am now a champion for Champion generators!" We will be getting our second generator within a couple months and put the parallel kit to work. Definitely need more wattage for some of our power tools and heating needs then this alone will handle. Will give you all an update when that happens. Thanks for listening. Oh, and the box says it has a 3 year warranty now not a 2 year that was listed on the web warranty link. I'll need to look at the manual/paperwork... oh, I'll just email the Brain@champion instead! Brian replied back, YES, you get a 3 year warranty on Champion generators now! Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I was wanting a quiet generator like the Honda 2000 for camping in our little tent trailer, wanting the obvious benefits of a generator but not wanting thew entire camp ground to hear it. Well, so far its lived up to expectations on the quiet side, maybe only slightly louder than the Honda my friend paid $1000+ for. I got mine through Cabela's on black friday for only $400. What a steal! Its a little bigger than the Honda with comparable watts but i can still carry it with one hand. Although i haven't had it out camping just yet to really put it to the test, I am extremely happy with the product so far! should i decide i need more in the future, i'll just buy a second one and the parallel kit and still be hundreds ahead as compared to buying the Honda. THANK-YOU CHAMPION!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does the job! I bought two of these generators. I camp in a truck camper in the winter and needed to run a space heater for the really cold nights. In the 20's the generator ran my space heater for 5 hours, in the 40's it runs for 10 hours. They are relatively quiete especially on eco mode. I run my computer and charge my phone also. So far I am very happy, they fired right up when I got them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Value By Far! I did weeks of research and review reading before deciding on the 73536i. I needed enough power to run my RV AC so I knew I'd need two inverter generators run in parallel. The obvious choice seemed to be the popular 2000 watt red model (not supposed to mention competitor brands), but at over $1000 each a pair would put me over $2000! Seemed rediculous to spend that much money for less than 4000 watts of power. So the search was on. Bottom line...I found no other inverter generator comes even close to the quality and value that the Champion 73536i offers. Starting with the box, packing and instructions that the 73536i came in and ending with the solid quality and care obviously built into these generators, I'm confident I made the right decision...and I saved well over $500 in the process. A big bonus for me is the square, stacking format of the design. It suited the storage space in my RV perfectly. I believe that you simply cannot go wrong deciding on the Champion 73536i inverter generator.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice for the Money I just opened the 73536i and my first thought was "This is going to be a great machine!" I added the oil which it came with, added some gas and within 3 pulls it fired right up. The only negative thing which I found so far is that the four bolts which must be taken off to oil it up were insanely tight. I just about stripped one off taking them out for the first time. Bolts or hex nuts would have been a better item there, and will probably be going in soon. After fire up it purred like a kitten. I plugged it into a shop light and was surprised by how much it revved up. As of right now it seems as if it is going to work just right for my needs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far so good Just received both of my inverters and when I started to fill the units with the oil provided. All the stickers and pamphlets warn that the units have no oil. Also indicates that the capacity is 0.4L which is also the amount in the oil provided. However when filling, there WAS already oil in the units and only took 0.1L at most. I used 1 container to fill both units and still have about half left. Once I got the correct amount in them, I found them to start with only a few pulls, fairly quiet (louder than the Honda and Yamaha but not by much) and powered my trailer and other small items. Would give a 5 star if not for the units coming with oil in them already.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Runs great if not cold Bought this for ice fishing. Runs greats after you heat it up. Will not start -30f, -20f,-10f,0f,+10f. Will try to start cold in 10 degree increments until it starts without setting it in the front seat of the pickup for an hour. I would hope they surely would have built this unit to start in cold weather. Maybe will start better as it breaks in and things loosen up. I know my chin sang wang dang loud generator with 5000 hours on it starts one or 2 pulls down to 20 below. Usually starts on one pull. I want to support american companies so will put up with it needing to sit in a sauna before it will start.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable I have purchased 4 of these generators and taken them to Panama, where they provide power in remote jungle locations in support of an ongoing entomology research project that I am conducting all over the country, from the Chiriqui Mountains near the border with Costa Rica to the jungles of Darien National Park, near the border with Colombia. The generators perform flawlessly and have been extremely reliable for the past 2 years. I have given 3 of them away, to our Embrera Indian guide down near Colombia, and to the University of Panama. I just purchased my 5th Champion 73536i and will take it to Panama in April. I no longer use Honda generators as these outperform them easily.
