I have a table saw rated at 15 amps. I can't run it on a 1000 watt generator (I should have done the math first). Looking at the numbers, this should be adequate for 17.5 amps. Has anyone tried this kind of load? Do you experts think this will be sufficient? Thanks, Pat
Asked by: FulltimeRVer
Here's some feedback: despite the results of the math computations that indicate this will NOT run a 15-amp table saw , I went ahead and bought it. I did that because my friend's Honda 2000i generator ran my table saw with no trouble. I just received this Champion generator yesterday. First impressions: this is a NICE generator, well-designed , and well-made. I filled it up with the oil provided this morning, added gas, started it, let it warm up, plugged in my table saw and cut through a piece of 2x4. Worked fine. Now I will say, I am NOT someone who will be using it all day long on a job-site. But it works excellently , SO FAR, for my needs. I've known other full-time RVers who carry these, and love them. Regards, Pat

will it run an RV air conditioner?

I read where it ran an AC. How big of a RV unit AC will it run?
Asked by: TBar
I don't know, but I tested mine with a 12,000 BTU frigidaire. It ran it without any problems. After starting the ac, I tried running it in eco mode and that also worked. I wish I would have tried starting it from eco mode, but I have serious doubts about it starting from eco mode. I've also run a 8,000 BTU and a 5,000 BTU at the same time and that surprisingly worked too. For the money, these are good little generators.

Can I plug a 30 amp travel trailer directly into this generator to charge the battery and run the interior lights.

Asked by: Brian1967
Yes with a simple 30A->20A adapter plug. It should run everything in a RV except a roof A/C.

will it run a microwave
Asked by: studridge
Yes, as long as anything else running at the same time doesn't exceed the 1700 watt rating.

1,700/2,000-Watt Recoil Start Gasoline Powered Portable Inverter Generator is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 191.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable I have purchased 4 of these generators and taken them to Panama, where they provide power in remote jungle locations in support of an ongoing entomology research project that I am conducting all over the country, from the Chiriqui Mountains near the border with Costa Rica to the jungles of Darien National Park, near the border with Colombia. The generators perform flawlessly and have been extremely reliable for the past 2 years. I have given 3 of them away, to our Embrera Indian guide down near Colombia, and to the University of Panama. I just purchased my 5th Champion 73536i and will take it to Panama in April. I no longer use Honda generators as these outperform them easily.

Happy with product, impressed by Brian Downs@Champion for his technical support [before AND after the purchase] and Home Depot for bringing us this GREAT generator. I have been a Honda generator user for 30 years. I still have a EX1000 and EX5500 running but we live off grid now and find that the older ones weren't doing as well with gas consumption. Also, we fried some lights since these old ones are not "clean" sine wave generators. So we looked at a lot of reviews and found that Champion looked like the created a solid running product and their support appeared to be top notch. So far, we can confirm both of those attributes. We live off grid so our generator isn't for shortages or black outs. Our generators are used daily for 2-8 hours/day. We started contacting Champion through their website on the larger 75537i 3100w inverter. We emailed them many times and always got a quick response to our questions. We liked the wattage on the larger Champion but decided on the smaller 73536i. We liked that it was more portable and the wattage 1700 would take care of most daily things and cost less than half the price. AND if we need more power, we would get a second one with the parallel kit and get the extra wattage for summer time A/C running. So we ordered online on Dec. 26th and we picked it up on Jan. 5th. Took a bit long, so used to "got to have it overnight." But Home Depot price matched thru chat online and we weren't in a big hurry so all is good. We get this, open it up and it looks really clean and well put together. Follow the simple instructions to become acquainted with everything and it was time to add oil. Champion gives you the exact amount of oil you need in the box, super cool! We open up the back cover which looked a bit ajar and found the inside panel was cracked in shipping or before. Oh sad face... but we contacted support [the same people we wrote before we bought a Champion product] and they handled our issue with the utmost expediency and professionalism. I could have brought it back to Home Depot and waited for another unit but Champion said they would ship me the part directly, which was better for me. Otherwise, I would have to haul this back in the box 45 minutes to get to Home Depot and wait for a replacement. Two weeks have gone by: Champion sent me the parts as promised but I have not changed the part yet due to so much rain right now. We have been using this daily and even my under 100 lb. 14 year old girl can get this started on the second pull. My wife said she liked the pull much better than our my small Honda EX1000. It has a smoother and easier pull. And much much easier than our neighbors Ryobi 1800/2200 unit. The Ryobi feels like it "SNAPs" back at you when you pull. This 736i is pretty quiet but when we go to ECONOMY mode, the idle drops. We plugged in our home/trailer and the generator revved up a bit but settled back down to Economy mode but now and then it sort of revs up like it might go into high speed but doesn't. Guess we are on the edge of Economy wattage needs. Well we filled the tank up with 1 gallon and it ran almost 9 hours and I decided to fill it up again. Don't know how much was left but that was great performance compared to my old Honda EX1000. The Honda used about 1 gal/4 hours of run time. So we are using less than half the gas right off the bat! The unit is quieter than the Honda and even though the generator feels a bit big and boxy it is relatively easy to carry due to the design of the stackable frame. It feels like I have a good hold of the generator when I pick it up. So overall, very, very happy with Home Depot to price match, Champion for excellent customer service before and after the purchase and the generator does the job. By the way, I used to sell Honda generators. As cliche as it may sound, "i am now a champion for Champion generators!" We will be getting our second generator within a couple months and put the parallel kit to work. Definitely need more wattage for some of our power tools and heating needs then this alone will handle. Will give you all an update when that happens. Thanks for listening. Oh, and the box says it has a 3 year warranty now not a 2 year that was listed on the web warranty link. I'll need to look at the manual/paperwork... oh, I'll just email the Brain@champion instead! Brian replied back, YES, you get a 3 year warranty on Champion generators now! Hope this helps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy with my Second Champion Generator! Like most other buyers, I bought this generator for RV use. I already owned a 3500(4000 peak) traditional “construction” style Champion generator and I was quite happy with it. However, we needed a quieter generator for camping both to keep the peace with any neighbors and allow us to relax as well. We settled on a pair of these as we would only need 2 of them when running the AC and otherwise could just bring along one of them. Packaging - This generator was well packaged with any chance of damage being unlikely. I immediately noticed how easy it was to pickup removing it from the box with the sturdy handle. It isn't light, but also isn't too heavy to easily carry around the campsite or lift onto the tailgate of your truck. Setup - Before you run this generator or even put gas in it, you will need to put oil in it, obviously. Adding the included oil is very easy with the included funnel. The back panel is easy to remove and the fill neck allows for easy filling and draining. Startup - Following the directions for starting, this generator fired up immediately. After getting used to my traditional generator I was pleasantly surprised by how quiet it was, and this was without ECO mode enabled. First Operating Impressions - I placed the generator about 8 feet from my living room slide which has the couch where you would sit to watch TV. I went ahead and plugged in my RV and switched on ECO mode, then went inside and started turning on various loads inside. Even while running the microwave I was impressed by how quiet it was even under load. With just the 12V converter and TV running it continued to run at a quiet idle. I bought this generator 3 months ago and wanted to wait to write a review until I’ve used it for a while. Unfortunately life happens and it has not been run since its first 1 hour run during initial testing. This evening I pulled it out to run it for a bit. As expected it started on the first pull. For ease of maintenance I also installed an hour meter before I even started the first time that requires no modification to the generator, simply has a wire that wraps around the spark plug wire. I think Champion should include hour meters on all generators as they are inexpensive. However, this is my only complaint so far with this generator and I will be buying another in the near future along with the parallel kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect. Fit my needs. Parallel review I bought 2 of these for my 34 foot bumper pull Catalina. It successfully runs my AC, TV, microwave, refrigerator, and lights with no problem as long as you have the parallel kit... Obviously... They need to stabilize for several minutes after starting as well as after every load you add. So the short story is- don't plug this in and turn on all your devices and equipment at once. Make sure you stabilize it before and after adding each electrical load... Had a few overloads before I realized how to baby these guys, but they're amazing. If you're worried about dB level, these are amazing. I used to get cheers from other campers when I turned off our old 4500 Champion... Now they don't tell or scream at anything. These are amazing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Well I purchased two of these 2000 watt Champion Inverter Generators and tied them together for my 5th Wheel RV. The first generator arrived two days before the other one and it started on the first try. When the second one arrived, it started on the third try. I followed the instructions to the tee and they are both working out very well for me. I would recommend these Champion Inverter Generators for anyone that wants a quiet but effective generator for their trailer. I can run most everything with both units tied together. You can buy two of these units for the price of a Honda or Yamaha generator. So far, it's only been a couple weeks, but I'm a very satisfied customer !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First generator purchase This is our first generator purchase. We ordered online and it landed on our porch with a big thud. Thankfully, it is well packed and no damage appears to have occurred. We filled the oil (the oil is clear, which makes it a bit hard to see where the oil is when filling). We filled the gas from the top. Followed the clear startup instructions. It took a few pulls, but it started up. It is pretty quiet. It appears to have charged up our camper battery. We hope it runs our small AC when we are not plugged in at a RV park. Handle makes it easy to transport. And the size of the generator allows it to be transported inside the camper when needed. Time will truly tell when it comes to quality, but so far it looks to be good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent power inverter generator for the money I recently purchase this generator primarily for camping purposes. My main concerns in choosing the right unit were noise level, size and weight. This particular generator fits the bill quite well. I tested it at home right after I picked it up from the store and compared it to another champion generator that I had been using (model 42436). Started both of them up and the noise level difference was very noticeable. I truly needed something this quiet and lighter, but was unwilling to pay the $1000+ for a Yamaha or Honda unit.
