Answer:
Yes, most electric water heater elements run at approx. 4,500 watts. You will need to check the amperage and voltage on your specific water heater to determine the actual wattage consumption.

This is a great generator. My question is the generator cuts of when its gets to a quarter of a tank of fuel and won't start back till you fill it with gas. Is there a shut off for that or a way to set set it differently?

Answer:
No. This generator can provide up to 31.25 amps. Using the formula VOLTS x AMPS = WATTS a true 50 amp generator would be rated at 12,000 watts.

Answer:
Dear Home Depot Customer,
We reached out to the MFG with your question and below is their answer
"No because if you do the equation volts x amps = wattage. It would be 225x50= 11,250watts it would exceed the maximum watts for that unit"
Hope this information helps!

Customer Reviews

Rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reliable but stay away from Ethanol This generator runs our food truck (The Rolling Hunger - Longview, Texas) and has provided us with reliable power for about 4 months and almost 300 running hours. We change oil every 50 hours and perform regular valve adjustments. The only 'problem' we have experienced was a malfunctioning carburetor which prevented the generator from starting. A few troubleshooting calls with Champion Techs resulted in them shipping us a replacement and the issue was quickly resolved. Champion's tech support is very good, friendly and the wait time to speak with a technician was never longer than 5 minutes or so. Biggest lesson learned that it is best to stay away from fuel containing ethanol! September 4, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very reliable generator Great generator for a large 5th wheel RV. Our second champion. Real work horse. Still quite noisy. Used a pad under it to reduce vibration. August 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great on my truck Bought it to run my rooftop air conditioner on my truck. I have used it from Washington to New Jersey, and in 110 degree heat in Phoenix, Az., without a problem. Always starts and runs great. It also has enough power to run my portable miller passport welder. My only complaint it's a little noisy, but it's tolerable. No regrets. August 27, 2013
