Customer Reviews

80 lb. Capacity PRO Broadcast Spreader is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Spreader; Lousy instructions The spreader is good quality--the wheels are robust, which is a definite plus going uphill across St. Augustine grass. HD has cleared-up the issue on its website of whether this spreader arrives assembled--it does not, unlike its salt spreader cousins. Assembly takes nearly 2 hours, not the laughable 20-40 minutes the manufacturer claims--maybe if you are a 'superhero' like the Flash and you have put together 3 broadcast spreaders recently, then maybe it might take only 20 minutes for assembly, but plan on 2 hours if you are an average person working solo. The printed instructions are sorely lacking--watch the Chapin company video. Have a one-handed 'Kwik Klamp' ready to hold together the central column and portions of the support bars as you thread through various bolts--the clamp also comes in handy for the rear legs and other places -- Also, get a few washers (M6/M8) because they are needed, otherwise nuts will get torqued-down against the metal frame components, creating scratches and a strong potential for future rust points. Finally, wait until the spreader is fully assembled and right-sided on level ground before making final torques on the 4 nuts/bolts that hold the main rear legs together, else it will not sit level. Inflate tires to 18psi -- Min is 15psi/max is 20 psi, which is not listed in the instructions and hard to read on the blackwall tires. If you call customer support, Chapin is great to work with -- I spoke/emailed their CS department and they were very helpful.
