Depending on the Grill, the shelves can be folded down and or removed. Since Home Depot can assemble your Grill - I am sure they can leave one or both shelves off.

Answer:
This Char-Broil 2-Burner Grill has the ability to fold its sideshelves. When the shelves are up the grill has a width of 44 inches and when the shelves are down it has a width of 26.5 inches. We recommend the grill be at least three feet away from any walls or surfaces whenever it is in use.

Answer:
Hi spike,
Thanks for asking!
Since this grill has no side burner and the side shelves simply attach to the sides, one or both of the shelves can be omitted.
Be sure to allow a minimum of 6 inches of clearance on all sides for heat dissipation.

Answer:
Ok. That answer is still unclear to me. You still mention the infra red . I want Fire. It is important to me ,to make my fish, the way I do and that is blackening (or burning) the fishes skin . I don't believe that can happen without the fire.

Answer:
This Char-Broil 2-Burner Gas Grill does have a flame. It uses convection style cooking to provide an amazing grilling performance. All of our infrared gas grills cook with flames. We just use that flame in those models to cook infrared instead of standard convection style.

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 72 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Falls apart after 1 year. We have had this for 1 year and I unfortunately can't find my receipt. This is a great grill except for the outside of it. It is rusted on the side, the great plate that makes the infrared work and not toast your food has holes in it. So frustrating, I was hoping it would last more than 1 year. Good points are that I have always been able to use the starter and once you figure out how to cook on the indirect, it makes food perfect every-time. Too bad it is falling apart. January 3, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Little Grill for Family of 4 4.5 stars... So far, so good. I (wife) put the grill together to surprise my husband. It took about 1 hr or so. The directions were all by picture - no words, but easy to follow. So far we've only used it a few times, but it's been very easy to ignite, and nice to use. We really like the small size as compared to the typical, standard gas grill size. We even cooked chicken, hotdogs and chops for a party of 8 without any problems - albeit, the grill space was maxed out. We would recommend this grill, and in fact our family members are thinking about getting this one when they replace their grills - due to the nice look and compact size. June 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for 1-2 person family If you don't need all the bells and whistles, this is the grill to buy. Perfect for a couple of hamburgers on one side and some veggies on the other burner. I ordered from Home Depot and had it in the store by the next week. I didn't think the big box it came in would fit in my car, but it slid in perfectly in my Jeep. It went together fairly easily and fired on the first push. I'd purchase this grill again. It doesn't take up as much patio space as my last grill. I also bought the cover and it fits the grill completely. And it didn't blow off during a very bad storm we had on Labor Day. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Purchase! Ordered online and was received within the date range specified by Home Depot. My husband put it together in about 30 minutes with no problems. He said it was an easy assembly with good directions. We have been using this grill 3-5 times a week for a month now and love it! It fits on our townhouse balcony perfectly. I haven't noticed any hotspots as some reviewers stated. It's perfect for the two of us but if we have a few friends over we could easily get a few more burgers or what not on the grill with no problems. I am very pleased with this purchase and love this grill. July 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Char-Broil2-Burner Propane Gas Grill This grill is just what I wanted! I needed a small grill to cook food for 2-4 people and on casters. It took a little time to assemble, but if you follow the instructions you'll be fine. An A+ to the people at Char-Broil for the packaging of the hardware. It was in separate sections and labeled by size and type. It was a pleasure not to have to guess each hardware size and type. I suggest you purchase the grill cover at the time of the grill purchase, you won't find a generic cover that fits. Also, I like the fold down shelves on the sides of the grill. July 1, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly as advertised and what I expected. Good looking, sturdy, lights easily, operates well. A well-made simple grill. I like that it has the enameled cast iron grill, a higher-end feature. My only complaint is that there was more assembly than I expected, and some elements of the assembly were hard to accomplish-- screws in tough places to see and reach, etc. Some screws required pre-setting and removal with a power driver in order to be able to do it by hand with the pieces lined up. Not for the weak-wristed. June 24, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic grill!! I found this grill to be very well designed. I didn't think that the two burners would be enough, but it turned out to be the right number. The grill performs wonderfully and cooks the meats that I have placed on it. I would definitely buy this grill again. I am really enjoying it. It was a little tricky assembling it, but it wasn't hard to figure out. September 28, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by My first grill It is a small grill, which is perfect for a single person. I love the drop down shelves for compact storage. The only issue I have is that it is uneven heating, the back is much hotter than the front even though the flames appear consistent. It has taken a few grilling times to figure it out and find what works. But for my first grill I love it and use it almost everyday! The grates are easy to clean with hot water and soap.
