It has the older style (push to make a spark ignition. Not the newer type that requires a battery. Can be easily replaced if broken.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Grill for the Money After reading several other reviews on this grill, I decided to order one for myself. It was right in my budget, offered three main burners and a side burner, and had a brand name I had owned before. Pros: Great price, decent construction, easy to clean grates, very easy to assemble, heats up quickly. Cons: The metal is a bit thin, but adequate. It would be nice to have a storage area underneath for BBQ tools, etc. Summary: Would recommend to anyone who wants a good grill and is on a budget.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent grill for the price I ordered this grill online after not finding one I wanted in the store. It arrived promptly and may have been the easiest home assembly I've ever completed. It took me under an hour to assemble by myself - in the dark I might add. Most of the fasteners are pre-tapped so all you have to do is put the parts in place and fasten the bolts. The grill works great. It's real sturdy and not flimsy like some of the cheaper models. There's a couple hot/cold spots on the edges of the cooking area but the 3 burners give you excellent control and you learn quickly how to manage. I was a little put-off by the grilling surface as it's a sheet stamped grill instead of a traditional welded wire grill I'm used to but it grills things just the same, if not better, and might even be easier to clean. Great grill. I would recommend to anyone.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Owned 2 months, grill grates warping & coating deteriorating Purchased this grill in April 2014. Takes about an hour to set up, not "from box to grilling in a matter of minutes" as the site states. I grill about 3 or 4 times a week for 2 to 5 people, nothing overly complex (mostly burgers/dogs/chicken). By early June 2014 the grilling grates are warping and the coating is breaking off. Grill grates are not wire as advertised- some kind of stamped aluminum is my guess. Attached shelf bends under a small amount of weight and has to be bent back periodically. The entire grill bends and flexes when you move it. Sparker never worked. I keep it covered (only uncovered when cooking and during cool down), however there is surface rust showing up on the supports and shelving. It does heat up quickly, has great heat range, and can put a good char on your food, however judging by what it looks like today I will only get one season out of it, two at the most. My last Char-Broil I owned for 16 years and never had to replace the grates, and only had to purchase burners twice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Grill, especially for the $$$ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill, especially for the $$$, April 24, 2013 This grill is one of the best I've come across in the coarse of 25 years. This is my 2nd in two years, as we were in the paths of Hurricane Irene in 2011, and Sandy this past year. They get salt watered out every so often. This low priced model performs better than the $350 and up class. From here on in no big ticket stuff outdoors and this little guy fits the bill just right. Every feature works as it should. First I've owned without hot spots, and cooks very evenly....Temp gauge seems accurate and even looks good. If you go by reviews, one would think that these were not even boxed. Contrary to all the reviews of damage when received this one was fine. Took about 1/2 an hour to assemble, and if I had a second one it would be Ten minutes. If you need anything, deal with Home Depot. Char Broil Customer Service is Sub Par.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Basic Grill with all the right features. We wanted to buy a basic small grill since we don’t have a ton of space. This grill is perfect for what we need. It lights easy, cooks everything even, and the temperature gauge seems to be very accurate. It is pretty solid in construction and easy to put together. If you are looking for a basic inexpensive grill, then this is the one. If you are looking for top of the line fancy smancy then you will need to spend 450.00 plus.
