must admit you do need 2 people to put this item together. I started it and got lost trying to put in the grill pan. so I called home depot and found out if you bought a grill thru them they will put it together for you.... what a holiday saver. have used it nearly every day since labor day and it is a wonderful grill adding the charcoal with the adjustable pan makes it so good the temperature gage makes cooking that much easier.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fred Good for the price, but could be better
Build quality is good, but not fantastic. As others have noted, the latch on the front isn't the sturdiest thing they could have come up with, but it has worked so far for me. My real complaint is that the charcoal pan doesn't allow enough air to flow up from under the charcoal. My charcoal kept going out 2/3 of the way through cooking until i cut the bottom out of the pan and replaced it with expanded sheet metal; works great now. My dad's older (and admittedly nicer) Char-Broil uses grates similar to the cooking grates for the charcoal pan and does not suffer from this problem.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DandS This charcoal grill seemed like a good buy, but...
The many features were just what we wanted, but it got here all dented. Once assembled, it was too bent for the lid to come down straight on the main body of the grill.

I bought this grill 2-3 years ago. It was tricky to assemble but if you follow the directions (a hard thing for us guys to do), you'll end up with an excellent grill. I don't understand the negatives comments as my experience is completely opposite but then I take care of mine and keep it covered when not in use. I haven't had any issues with it. Absolutely my favorite grill that I have owned.
I strongly recommend a good quality cover to keep the rain out, otherwise water will accumulate in the bottom tray which could cause the pan to rust over time.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DW2011 Metal Torn in Half
This item was ordered online for my birthday. Opened the Box, and a couple parts (Top lid, bottom square bracket) were almost fully ripped in half.
Returned to store, store was very helpful, but could only put money back on credit card as they did not have one in stock.
I like the style of this BBQ being able to adjust coals up and down while cooking. Just hope I can find a better product, or if I re-order actually get a item not ripped apart.
A Fair rating as I gave this same style BBQ to my Father and he enjoys it. Home Depot customer service was very nice, just wish they could of re-ordered the product for me at the store. Instead of having to credit the credit card then order online again.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Michael L Easy to use,
This was purchased by building management at our senior residents housing. Cooking hamburgers and hot dogs cooked fast. The charcoal tray was strong and supprted the coals at all levels. Cleaning of grates was easy.

I received this grill as a wedding present. When I received it, it was pretty beat up in a couple of spots - and already rusted in some areas. It was frustrating from the get go because some of the spots where the metal was bent, were crucial spots - IE air can escape from them.
I've used this grill many times. Do not expect to keep any type of temperatures with this thing. I can close off all the dampeners and the coals still burn. This makes zero sense. Without being able to control the air flow, you cannot control the temperatures.
I do not recommend this grill. This is the only Charbroil I've ever had, and it will be my last. If I had any documentation on the gift for a return, I would certainly do so.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by mkeybr Good for first couple years, then rusted out
I liked the look and size of this which is why I purchased it. The side table is invaluable. But despite also purchasing a cover for it, the whole bottom pan to hold the ashes, (ie the sliding tray) as well as other components rusted completely away. I didn't realize the struts and support structures rusted and were gone as well until the replacement parts I ordered arrived. There was nothing to latch or slide the new ash pan in- the lower part of the frame was completely rusted away! When it was new, it worked great. I loved the thermometer, esp when doing smoked ribs that take 4-5 hours to do right. Everything tasted good coming out of the grill, but the value is just not there ,given its rapid rust process
