The only problem I have is the combo chip & water pan. Not sure who came up with this bright idea, but it is a waste. Since you combine the water and the wood in one pan on top of direct heat it makes you keep filling both frequently, as they burn up/dry up quickly. They need to be two separate pans, wood over the direct heat and the water over the wood so that is over indirect heat. Give me two pans that are deep enough that I can fill up with plenty of wood and around 2 quarts of water so I do some serious smoking instead of steaming my meat. Would I recommend your smoker? No not until you change the pans, then yes I would.

I love this smoker, I've used it twice making chicken once and ribs once and everyone loved them both. As far as the built in thermometer goes mine is spot on with the one I bought to put in it. Definitely worth the price!

I bought this smoker about year ago. I really wasn't sure what to expect. I have turned out some pretty good results though. Pros. Easy to clean, efficient as far as propane use goes, easy to assemble, and easy to move. Cons. Constantly have to add water. I keep my hose nearby to help with this. Drawer does not open if using wood chunks. Thermometer on the front is useless. I use an internal thermometer after learning the hard way. I have trouble getting heat over 240 but then again it is designed for low and slow. If I want to cook hotter I use less water. Overall, given the price point I am happy with the buy but I am ready to upgrade to a Weber Smokey Mountain now.

You are reading reviews, that is a great place to start. I was surprised by the weight of this smoker, pretty hefty. Yes, the water tray is a bit shallow, add a cheap 9x14 pan on the bottom rack. Yes, the thermometer runs about 30 degrees low, put in a $5 oven thermometer. Or better yet, get a two probe remote thermometer, you're gonna want one anyway. Even at the lowest flame setting it maintained temp in 60 degree weather with a slight breeze. Made plenty of smoke and great flavor. Nice smoker for the price

Terrible fit and finish, doors lopsided and would not close, legs uneven. Shelves flimsy. Returned and got refund. Look elsewhere and spend a few more bucks.

This smoker is very poorly designed. First off the thermostat is off by about 50 - 75 degrees, critical when you are smoking. The biggest design flaw is the water pan. It sits too close to the burner, is only an inch deep and the wood reservoir is so small that if you are smoking several pieces of meat the smoke flavor is mild at best. You have to add water to the pan every half hour at least and if you have wood chunks in the "drawer" you can't access it to add water without opening the upright door which then lets all you smoke out. My previous smoker was a very inexpensive model that I got from Wal-mart and it ran circles around this one. Don't waste your money this product is junk!
