This grill sounded like a great value for the money, but definitely is not worth it. The cooking surface has very uneven heat distribution, and there is a huge gap in the back of the lid, so the heat escapes even when the lid is closed. On top of that, after only 5 months of light use, the regulator knob on one of the burners melted off and began shooting flames out of the front of the grill, rendering it completely useless (see attached picture). Char Broil customer service ignored many emails and phone calls, so needless to say I won't be buying another one.

We bought this for a demo. coffee roasting for the long weekend. Took longer then it should have show up, just in time, Box looked ok brought it home opened the box just to find a destoyed grill Ruined my coffee demo and weekend.Took Picture and sent to Char Broil Co. they said they will send out new parts and I have to change them. almost every panel was bent.Even the gas know console, and I am soposed to change it????? so much for a good long week end. and my time to change all the parts (NEVER AGAIN) THEY SHOULD SEND ME OUT A NEW ONE! (TO MY HOME AND STOP WASTING MY TIME.) Why should I have to go do all this my time is worth more then the grill.

This grill is a good grill and cooks quite well. The only issue we had was assembly. The instructions are "pictograms" with not narrative steps. It takes two people, some patience, and an ability to understand the drawings. Once assembled the grill works well and can cook quite a lot at once.

I have had this grill for 3 years. The bottom is completely rusted out. The burners are shot. The heat tents are rusted through. I paid $369 for this grill. I just purchased a Weber Genesis for $799. Go to a store and feel the difference. The Weber will last longer than 5 of these grills. If you don't want to shell out $800, then go for the Weber Spirit. At only $399, it is WELL WORTH THE $30 price difference. You will also end up with more cooking area. Yes, this grill is huge. But when the only place that gets hot enough to grill is the back 6-8 inches of the grill....it is very unusable. The Weber will give you even heat over the entire cooking area. I can't sing the praises of Weber enough in this review. Buy a Weber and you'll laugh at people who own a Char-Broil grill.

I have owned this for 3 years and everything is rotten. Garage stored, first the wheels rusted out, literally fell off while moving it to the garage. Cooking area is big but the heat is extremely uneven and only heats near the back, anything in the front never cooks. The side burner worked great. Will be replacing this spring. To much to spend on a grill to replace every 3 years. Assembly was also a pain.

I bought this grill online, sight unseen, and I definitely regret it. The main reason: there is huge gap between the lid and fire box at the back of the grill when the lid is closed. This 3" opening runs the length of the grill and makes the grill useless for any cooking that requires the lid to be closed. (think ribs cooked for 4-5 hrs over indirect heat)
There is another 1/4" gap in the front of the grill between the lid and the edge of the fire box. I haven't seen such gaps other 2 other grills I have used in the past.
The heat distribution is not even. Upper left corner and the left edge are significantly cooler than the middle of the grill.
The grates don't fit the fire box properly. The grates move up and down and side to side, banging against the edges, when scrubbed. Definitely a pain.
Assembly was simple except when trying to attach the firebox to the frame.
I don't know how grills are returned after assembly and first use, but if it were straightforward, I would probably return it.

I own a rental company and we've rented this grill over the past 3 years. It's an ok grill but in the latter part of 2012 Charbroil changed the way the caster feet are attached. It's always been plastic inserts but now they went to a 'screw-in' type caster foot against 'plastic inserts and that doesn't work well for a grill that weighs 150 lbs. I started selling grills (all good name brands) back in the late '80's so I'm well aware of what is quality and what isn't.
I've seen other comments on here from some folks that I'd like to address. One comment was about a 'gap' in the back of the grill. That gap is there so the grill can 'breathe'...ALL gas grills have that otherwise the grill wouldn't be able to stay lit..think..flames take Oxygen to burn and burns off Co2, and if the Co2 can't escape, it'll just smother itself out.
Many posts talk about the 'quality' of the grill'. Folks, please, it's a $350 grill, it's huge, it weighs a ton, if you're really looking for quality then look Ducane, Tec, or Weber. You won't find huge grills like this but you'll find good quality grills. You get what you pay for and you should shop savvy.
I buy grills here and another home improvement store every time they go on sale because I'm not going to pay full price for something I know in just 12 weeks of renting them in my seasonal business they'll be ready for the scrap yard. It is what it is and you get what you pay for. If you buy products nowadays without thoroughly researching what you're buying before you have a chance to even see it, then there's an old saying....caveat emptor....latin for 'buyer beware'...

Very large grill area. can easily make food for a party. the side burner is excellent. not sure what everyone's saying about the quality but it seems pretty solid to me. i've had the webers before and yes they were 'heavier' steel but this isn't exactly 'light' either. nice and sturdy. sear burner is amazing for steaks and meats or just to give anything a nice char.
took 1.5 hours to put together using two screwdrivers...and the help of a 13 year old son.
im in league city, tx so we get tons of rain but just use a cover (buy a cover meant for larger smokers...works better and covers better). hasn't rusted or anything so far.
