Quality control testing and inspection

Does Char-Broil American Gourmet 700 Series Charcoal Grill with Offset Firebox inspect and test its products before shipping to consumers? Why so many flaws with respect to welding, heat escape flimsy material, paint etc?

I think QC is limited to making sure that the Char-Broil sticker adhesive placed on the top of the grill is of a significant chemical composition that it is impossible to remove without fire and a grinder. The sticker is extremely high quality, everything else not so much.

Is there a rack in the firebox that will allow me to grill there if I choose too?

If I choose not to smoke the food can I grill in the main compartment and also grill in the firebox.

how much is the extra cost to ship it to your house

I no the grill is a 160 bucks but I don't have a credit card so I have to give my friend the money to order it and I just need to no how much more I would need to give him

I believe shipping was included in the price. I won't say free, but included in the price. I was charged sales tax, though.

I can't complain too much because this Grill was a gift but there is a lot of rusted metal is very thin you have to buy Scheels for the lid because there is a quarter inch Gap all the way around the lid I have took some of my best ribs on it I don't consider myself a professional but I am very knowledgeable on grills so unless you're willing to sit there and check on it every 15 minutes to keep your temperature and check it may not be the grill for you not very high-quality but for the price it's not terrible it's not a smoker it is a grill just for the fact that you cannot keep the temperature where you want it because there is too much air gap in the steel is too thin

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good for the price I bought this one to replace the one I had for 7 years, have to admit not over the top with the current quality, the first smoke the damper on the firebox started to warp, within 10 minutes after building a fire in the firebox the paint started bubbling and flaked off, it doesn't seem to seal like the last one I owned. Maybe it's time to move onto a different brand after this one, don't get me wrong it dose the job it was built for and has a great size cooking surface just made really cheap.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Takes a licking, keeps on ticking I've had this Char-broil smoker for 10 years. It has lived in pretty rough conditions (uncovered and unprotected for about half of those 10 years in Texas heat and rain) and is still in good working order. I did have to replace the thermometer a few years ago, but after countless rain storms, I think that's just to be expected. It has a nice sized firebox that can fit up to medium sized logs. This is a great smoker for pork ribs, turkey, chicken, sausage, etc. Maybe not ideal for a brisket, but works fine and I've done it on several occasions. As it is a wood smoker, general good practice I've found is to check the temperature roughly every 30-45 minutes. If you make adjustments (especially if you stoke the firebox with more wood), watch it closely for a few minutes to make sure your temperature doesn't spike too high. Bottom line: for an entry level smoker, this is a reliable and durable product. This took me from a barbecue neophyte into a reasonably experienced cooker. Thumbs up from this Texan.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked great for a year and a half... Was a gift for father's day in 2015 from my wife and 2 sons. It work great for a short while. In all fairness I live in south Texas where it is very humid. I have kept it under my covered porch when not in use but it still didn't last. I would think if you pay a couple hundred dollars for something it should last a lot longer than a year and a half.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Listen up everyone We are going into our fifth season with this smoker, and after a thousand hamburgers and hot dogs, hind quarters from deer, roast from moose, and beef, turkeys etc I can tell you it does one heck of a job. sure the paint burns off the fire box, what would one expect with heat confined in such a small area the burnt off paint does not effect the quality of this smoker. don't be misled this thing works great, Oh and don't forget to put some baby backs in this thing and smoke them up are you in for one heck of a meal. don't take my word for it buy the darn thing and enjoy the food and compliments oh ya don't forget the beer. And one more thing use it year round like we do, Anyway enjoy your summer and Happy, Happy.Happy eating

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flavor/$ : THE BEST I have had mine for 17 years, no lie. Bought the grill first and soon graduated to the firebox. Cannot begin to count the number of successful backyard meat & veggie preps: two, sometimes three times a week in the summer. Smoked turkeys around Thanksgiving, hot- or cold-smoked salmon, you name it. Yes, the interior coal tray is FINALLY beginning to rust through, but after 18 years, in our Northwest climate?!? Yes, it leaks smoke -- but just add a stick of wet alder (or cherry, or apple...): such a sweet smell, and plenty of heat. Would I try commercial cooking with the unit? No, it requires attention -- but who cares? That's part of backyard bbq for me. I will be in the market for another, soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Smoker Grill, Super large cookoing area I ordered my Char Broil smoker grill on line. They gave me a 7 - 10 day delivery date. The grill arrived 2 days later, all 106 lbs. Assembly was easy with simple instructions. Instruction recommended 2 people for assembly. I'm a do-yourself handyman and assembled the grill myself in a little over an hour, simple. If you are not a do-it yourselfer, a second pair of hands will be very helpful. I followed the instructions and covered the inside cooking area, smoker, grill from top to bottom with at coat of vegetable oil and cooked it off until the charcoal was completely burned, several hours at about 300 degrees. This is the secret of protecting the painted surface of the grill. My first use of the grill was total success. I smoked a Boston butt, rack of ribs, and whole chicken with indirect heat, using only the firebox for 9 hours at 225 - 250 degrees, wrapped the meat in foil and smoked it another 2 hours. The meat cooked to perfection. My family said it was better than the BBQ joints. I would recommend this smoker to anyone without hesitation.
