Yes you can use as many or as few as you want. Yes, start with the igniter burner, but I don't think you need to turn them on in series to get to the one you want to be on.

Answer:
You can pretty much light any burner with the igniter. The grill also works well with indirect heat. I find it quicker to light all 4 to preheat, and then shut off all but one for small cooking.

That is correct. Any number of the four burners can be used as needed, depending on what is being cooked. You will be able to light the first main burner and then light each one after. I live in a windy area & am looking for a grill that can withstand it... NOT blow out & lose a ton of heat right away. Any suggestions or recommendations? I really like the look of this grill... I need 3-4 burners to feed my large family...

Answer:
Keep the grill on the leeward side of some large object to counter the wind; even a large SUV would do but not too close. If you are grilling in an open space then keep the lid closed. When you need to peer inside lower the gas pressure or turn the burners off. Then you can assess your items, restart or readjust the gas flow.

We had one of these grills and it blew over in the wind 4 times in one summer. Hence we are looking for another grill (the grill is still functional, but there is no assembly to hold it off the ground!). However, we are pleased enough with this model's value and functionality that we are going to get another. But we will get a bungee cord this time! Hold it to the deck railing and it should be fine.

Answer:
It could tip over in heavy winds. I don't know how heavy the winds it can withstand but, you should find a spot away from the winds to store it if that's a concern. Do not place your grill facing the direction of the wind. If the wind is blowing make sure that the wind is blowing to the sides of the grill.

Answer:
As long as the grill is not facing directly into high winds it should do well to keep the flame and provide a great grilling experience. This Char-Broil 4-Burner Gas Grill would be a perfect choice for a family of any size.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 123 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Family Favorite! I see now that The Home Depot has discontinued this Char Broil model; sad to learn of this. We purchased ours in early May 2014 and this very good product was put into service the day after it'd been delivered. Steaks, burgers and hot dogs are a breeze on this grill. Grilled vegetables, such as corn-on-the-cob and roasted peppers inevitably turned out to perfection too. This grill has a flair for searing a particular cut of steak, beef tenderloin specifically, then grilling the cut to an appetizing finish. Here, this Spring, I find myself wanting to renew some of the componentry inside the grill which has worn out from the heavy use it's seen over nearly two years. Doing the math I came to the conclusion that it would be more economical to just buy a new grill. I had to go to an outside channel to find it but I do not hold anything against The Home Depot for their decision to no longer stock this model. To affirm my choice of this Char Broil model is to say that my faith in this grill's delivering a consistently fine result is well-placed. I am going to retire the original to the shed attached to the garage for sentimental reasons that I'll not go into. At the present time the memories of countless Spring, Summer, Fall cookouts (and some in Wintertime) will bridge the gap going from old-to-new and I await getting the new Char Broil model 463436214 this coming Wednesday, 4-20-2016. Count me as a satisfied customer of The Home Depot and Char Broil for the many, many delicious grilled foods that I was able to put on the table for my family over the course of almost two years of very intensive use. Thank you. April 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Charbroil gas grill The grill was very easy to assemble--only took about 20 minutes. Looks great and works great so far! June 24, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by not thrilled about this grill I've had this grill for about a year. The assembly was easy with instructions. However, after connecting the gas and beginning the cooking phase of this project i noticed that the high and low flame was only slightly different. With some attempted adjustment i found that there was no way to back the fire down to a point below what i would consider medium heat. i shifted to cooking on the 2 outer burners food in the middle. This worked until the outer knob stripped out and will not work at all, twisting all the way around. All in all the grill gets the job done but for the price, in my opinion, you could get a better quality grill. July 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exceeded Expectations I have owned this grill for 7 years. I shipped it to my vacation home in the Bahamas and have always kept it covered.... It has rust, it has some flaking, but considering it has been left on the deck on any island 100 yards from the ocean... I would say it has proformed well. I have cooked some of the best meals of my life on this grill. It has alway been very consistant. It has hot spots and cooler spots like any grill but once you learn your grill you should have no surprises. I just purchased the same modle for my home in Florida. I look forward to using this grill for years to come... HOWEVER, at this price point, anything beyond 3 years is a gift. Happy Grilling. August 29, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Grill for the price I got this grill a year ago and have taken pretty good care of it, however, the grates and some other parts are already starting to rust. I generally use my Weber charcoal grill but use this Char-Broil a few nights out of the week when I want to just throw some veggies, burgers hot dogs, etc... on for a quick meal. The only major complaint I have it that you MUST keep this grill clean. There is no removable tray to remove the old grease so flareups can occur often. I'll generally clean the grates and diffuser's then use my shop vac and a putty knife to clean the bottom tray. May 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of money I bought this grill in Oct of 2012 and didn't put it together in May of 2013. It worked fine for the first season, but this season its been terrible. I keep a cover on my grill at all times and store in my garage in the winter. Despite cleaning it thoroughly at the end of last season, its definitely not getting nearly as hot as it did the first season. I've just cleaned it out again and I feel like the burners already need to be replaced after 1 season. I DO NOT recommend this grill and am already looking into getting a new grill AFTER 1 YEAR! July 29, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent grill for the price. Grill was easy to assemble (it took about an hour). The screws however are about the cheapest metal I've ever seen. You'll have one chance to install them and don't over tighten. The screw heads will disintegrate and you'll need to get get replacements. Both the hood and the lower firebox were dented when I opened the box. The shipping box was intact, so I can only believe the grill components were damaged before they were loaded on the boat from china. Overall nothing special, but it seems to generate even heat and cooks good. June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CharBroil grill I ordered on line and picked up in store. Assembly was fairly easy, directions mostly clear and easy to follow. There were some minor damages, mostly cosmetic, due to transit. Not major damage and grill works great. Like the ability to slow cook by using only 2 of the 4 burners. January 2, 2015
