Am a newbie to Gas grill.Bought this three burner Gas grill .Would like to know how to season or prep the grill for using.

Asked by: linisan
No need to season the grill plates. They are porcelain covered. Just clean occasionally and after heating up the grill, before placing food on the grill, spray with PAM or PAM like cooking spray. Enjoy!!

Cooking grids... cast iron vs porcelain coated cast iron

Hello. I am new to grilling and have many questions, but main for now is which is better for cooking, just cast iron or Porcelain-Coated Cast Iron . TIA
Asked by: Svetlana
My smoker has the cast iron and they tend to rust quickly. Unless after cooking and letting them cool you clean and coat in oil. Even covered they will rust. I have never had the rust issue on my porcelain grates

I read in one of the reviews that the Grill Has a self cleaning feature. What???

Asked by: Anonymous
Yep, it is just like your oven's self-clean. This baby will crank up the gas and heat up all the various drippings and such so that they cook off. It is excellent. After I let it cool down, I follow up with a brief scrapping to clear any leftovers.

Gourmet 3-Burner TRU-Infrared Propane Gas Grill with Side Burner is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 639.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good so far Had my old grill for about 10 years and had replaced burners one time, and it didn't grill evenly before or after. This grill is fantastic. I have done hamburgers, steak, chicken, pork chops, baked potatoes and corn-on-the-cob. All have been done perfectly, juicy and not dried out or burned, even my wife's preference of "well-done" which is a miracle in itself. The only down side so far is that one cannot move food to a "low heat" area because the heat is so even.. so to have rare, medium and well-done it has to be timed as to when you put it on the grill.. which is not a real problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality for the price Only desirable features of this grill are that the drip pan prevents flare-ups and keeps the burners from rusting out, and the self-cleaning feature (really high temperauture) makes it easier to burn food off of the grill plates. Unfortunately, the stainless is easily stained and impossible to clean, the drip pan warps easily, the grill plates deteriorate just like they do on all CharBroil grills, and the igniter is cheaply made and with a poor installation design that makes it fall apart easily and impossible to put back together. Finally, the side lip that supports the drip pan - which is an integral part of the structure and cannot be replaced - rusted out after only 2.5 years so the grill is essentially useless now unless I manufacture my own lip to support the pan. Plus, if you have a kitchen, the side burner is useless. We didn't even use it once. More expense and more things to break, with no benefit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked great for the first year, then down hill from there. I purchased this grill in Nov of 2010. WIth the exception of the igniter, it worked very well. I have had issues with the igniter since Day 1. It usually takes me a few minutes to get it lit. After approx 16 months, a hole in the trough was created due to excessive use. We do grill out a lot, but this type of wear and tear should not have occurred so soon. The labeling around the knobs also started to wear off pretty quick. Thankfully we had purchased an extended warranty and was able to get a replacement after 18 months of use, but just be careful buying this grill. Don't get lost in it's good looks.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great concept, poor implementation... This is a long term review of the InfraRed grill. When I first bought it, I was very happy with the grill. It heated up to 600+ degrees quickly, the food was nicely cooked and came out juicy. The grill cooked food a lot more evenly than regular CharBroil grills (previous grills had hot spots. The front of the grill was not as hot as the center) After about a year of use, the poor quality construction began to show. While built of stainless steel, the grill and burners started to rust because of the low grade steel. The printing on the control panel peeled off and was literally gone within three months of use. The infrafred trough started rusting and by the end of the first year, it was showing holes in the bottom. The temperature no longer goes above 550 degrees. Parts for the grill are only available online. Shipping costs to Hawaii was greater than the parts themselves. Overall, the grill was very good when new but it deteriorated quite rapidly. I would not recommend this for long term use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pretty solid grill Pretty solid grill all around with a few things that drive me crazy. Pros: the new Tru-infared heat system works well. Gives it an extremely hot and even heat source. Takes a few times to get used to how it cooks. Extra side burner is great for boiling corn and lobsters. Cons: the grill gets so hot its warped the pan that the grates sit on and therefore they no longer sit evenly. So they bounce around at times. The pan which claims self cleaning from any drippings which the high heat is supposed to burn off works so so. Still have to take the grates out and wipe it out which is still easier than a regular grill. Lastly, we keep it on the deck uncovered and the front char-broil emblem leaves rust stains running down the outside front.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product with Great support Bought the Char Broil grill and it looked like it had been unused, but kind of dirty. After I got it home, I noticed some rusting on 2 of the 3 grills and also a little on the trough. After a call to Char Broil, they sent new replacements, without charge and free shipping! Grill cooks great. After a couple of times I used it, the grill wouldn't get hot, and only 2 of the burners would work at a time. From reading other posts here, I thought it was the safety feature. After I shut off the gas, disconnected the tank, and reconnected, which fixed the problem. Recommend this grill, and highly recommend Char Broil and Home Depot

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Three years and running!!! I bought this grill three years ago and the grill works perfect. The only thing i needed to change was the batteries on the igniter. The steaks this grill produces are better that any other steakhouse restaurant. It does take time to heat the surface but as with any other food the longer it takes the better it tastes. No flare ups!! I keep recommending this grill to all my buddies. I grill steaks every week and they are always perfect.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I wanted in a grill I've owned this model for 1 1/2 years and it cooks the same as the day I bought it. I have read several of the other reviews and most of them will help you make the right choice. I have been grilling for MANY years and actually gave up on grills because of the inconsistency in their ability to cook a steak. After the last grill rotted away I got smart and read many reviews in addition to checking out my options at the stores. Actually, a personal recommendation sealed my choice. This grill does food like no other grill I have ever seen. It takes some getting used to because the heat can be more than you need. So be patient and be willing to try different temps to find the best for each type of food you are cooking. The one suggestion I can add - purchase the Charbroil cover. It is high quality and will help protect your investment. Constant exposure to the elements will accelerate the deterioration of any item left outside. My grill still looks brand new. Whenever talking to family and friends, I nearly insist they buy this one.
