Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best grill ever..and I've owned plenty I recently purchased the four-burner model. We cook outside 3-4 times per week. I have had this grill for two weeks and have cooked many different meats on it. I prefer to cook larger cuts and poultry slow and at lower temperatures to preserve moisture and tenderness. The indirect heat feature of this grill and the fact that the dripping fat does not touch flame allow absolute control of the temperature. Only by human error will this grill flare up. Do not, let that indirect heat thing fool you. This baby gets hot quickly. Steaks, burgers, and dogs all end up with that "char-stripe." The key to success with this grill is keeping it clean. It needs better hygiene practices than your normal direct heat grill. Although it has a self-cleaning feature, I hate wasting the gas and the effects of the high heat. The pans and porcelain covered grates are easy enough to remove and just as easy to clean. I simply hose them off and wash with soap and water. The grates fit nicely in the dishwasher. The side burner is as good as one would want. Burner is not quite up for a 3-gallon deep fryer, but handles bacon, eggs, hot cakes, skillet beans, pan fried steaks and light frying with ease. Only downside is that there is no place to add a few wood chips for some smoke flavor. I'm not a big fan of heavy smoke anyway, so that's not an issue. I had mine delivered to my home in a big box and assembled it during a Monday night football game. Cooked a bacon sandwich for midnight snack. Picture instructions are adequate for the novice and few tools are required. You know that coffee can in your workshop with the extra screws?? Have it handy as well. You will need a few. Hey, I saved fifty bucks and it was a boring game. Just get the grill and don't scrimp. Get the four-burner. Your friends will love you for it. October 21, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great BBQ Grill I have owned a charcoal grill, gas grill, and now this infraRED grill and i have to say i have never been happier! This is by far the best grill i have ever bought, i love it! My 16 yr old nephew and myself assembled it on a Saturday took roughly 3 hours, well worth it though. Next day we fired it up and OMG! was i impressed on how well the food came out. It does what it says, the food came out really juicy was not dry at all, the heat was nicely evenly through out. Love the stainless steel look. I would recommend this grill to everyone in my family. For my birthday (2) days after we assembled it, instead of going out to dinner i invited my family for some BBQ slabs of pork baby back ribs and corn cob. Was much better than going out to dinner. I was so impressed how i had no flame flair ups, and how well the ribs came out again they came out so juicy. If you are looking for a great grill for your patio i would say get this one. I have no complaints at all. Your food will come out Great! June 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Grill I've Ever Owned I love to grill, however I have had concerns over carcinogens created by cooking over an open flame. I'm a cancer survivor and do what I can to reduce the risks. I've looked at infra-red as an option, but past models require constant cleaning or the tiny holes clog up and seriously affect performance. This grill has two concave metal plates that sit on top of the flames and redistribute the heat and thereby eliminating carcinogens created by the open fire. My biggest worry was that this would make my food taste less grilled and more like it was cooked in a pan. It doesn't! I've had the grill for almost a month and cook on it almost every day. It does sometimes get a little smokey as the fat drips and collects in these metal plates, but I've only had one flare-up so far. Because of that I can be a little less attentive to the grill without getting "crunchies" on the burgers as my kids call the sizzled parts! I'd recommend taking off the grates and clearing out the residue from the plates every few uses. It cuts down on the smoke and takes all of 30 seconds. Couldn't recommend this grill more! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Grill! As a longtime Weber Performer Plus owner, I was really struggling with taking a chance on this grill or going with another Webber PP to replace the one I sold when I moved across the country. I loved the convenience of the gas starter and prep table, along with the taste and performance of lump charcoal and wood chips. Prior to the Weber, my wife and I had a couple of gas grills that were pricy but just didn't make grilling flavorful. What intrigued me was the reviews and the reputation of the infrared grilling being fast, yet flavorful as it retained more of the juices of the meat. Finally, the ability to add my favorite wood chips directly on the infrared plates without the normal soak time and direct flames that the Weber used to get things smokey gave me the push to give this one a try - after all the prices are comparable. After a couple of months of use and already being on our second fuel tank, my wife and I are both thrilled about this purchase. As advertised, meats cook faster, stay juicer and tender, and the cooking experience sacrifices NOTHING. Those plates heat up to a good 500+ degrees quickly for perfect searing and grill marks. The addition of wood chips is so simple - dry - and makes grilling with this Gourmet grill worthy of its "GOURMET" name. Additionally, as my wife would be first to tell you, I'm not the handiest when it comes to assembling products like this but I had it shipped and gave it a shot anyway. To my surprise, I completed it perfectly within a few hours in the garage myself, with only needing some help to place the top unit on the base before I secured it. The directions and packaging made this an easy process and I'm grateful for that! Much to my surprise, Home Depot actually got the grill to me faster than the stated delivery time, too. My only "complaint" or concern with this grill is that they should emboss the gas knob functions as well as printing them on the face of the unit. Other reviewers mention that this printing wears rather easily and that's a serious disappointment which can be averted by simply embossing as well - even without the ink you'd still easily see the appropriate areas. Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase - thank you, Home Depot and Char-Broil! February 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by stainless steel that will rust purchase may 2012, used 8 times, (covered grill, was not exposed to any bad weather). When I opened up grill this may 2013 it was covered in rust, attempted to clean myself, stainless cleaner, soft scrub, etc. contacted Char-Broil who requested photos of rust, after one week they replied stating that the rust is not "RUST-THRU" which means you cant poke your finger thru it yet. They offered me a BIO cleaner which they stated would not remove the rust to which I refused. This is a CHEAP LOW GRADE STAINLESS STEEL GRILL WHICH WILL RUST, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY June 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great grill for the price. I thought the assembly was more difficult than it needed to be as the directions left a bit to be desired. But, I am very happy with this grill so far. We were looking for a larger grilling area and a side burner. Our options were to spend 2x the money on a Weber (which I have always owned) or take a chance on a less expensive option. I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews, but so far the grill has been great. Everything works properly and it gets up to 600 degrees pretty easily. It is a bit harder to keep clean looking and there are a few design features that I think could be improved, but for the price I think this grill is really hard to beat. March 28, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by In A Word, Superb! I purchased this grill on Memorial Day weekend and have used it now a dozen times. So far I have grilled steaks, ribs, pork chops, chicken and of course some hot dogs and burgers. I can honestly say this is, without question, the best grill I have ever cooked on. This infra red technology takes a little getting used to, mainly because this grill gets incredibly hot. Even when you cut down on the burners this thing will still get up over 500 degrees. But you will definitely taste the difference in everything you cook. Meats are much more juicy and there are no hot spots or flare ups! If you enjoy smoking meats, as I am doing in the photos, this thing is the best. Just drop the wood chips in the troughs under the grill plates. No need for a smoker box. The construction of this grill seems to be pretty solid. The grill plates are coated porcelain, not metal so it seems like they will last. If you coat them prior to cooking with a high heat oil like canola, they clean up pretty easily. The storage space underneath is also a plus. I assembled this myself in about two hours with just a couple of Phillips head screwdrivers. In summary let me say that the bottom line with any grill is how well it cooks, cleans and lasts. This can't cook any better, cleaning so far has been a snap, and with a good cover and proper maintenance this should last many years. I highly recommend this to anyone! June 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So far, it's great So far so good! We've been using the grill about 4 times a week for a few weeks now, and so far it's been perfection. The #1 thing I wanted was a grill I could get nice and hot for grilling steaks - 600+ degrees hot. Some cheap grills struggle past the 500's, or even the 400's! Day one, we cracked this baby up to see what it can do. Sure enough, this grill can go all the way, baby! We hit 650 within about 8 minutes, turned down the gas, and the grill stayed there indefinitely. NICE! A 1" thick steak comes out great within minutes. That's what I like to see! Actually, you gotta be careful, even on low-medium with all the burners you'll still get into 650-700 if you don't watch it... I did that yesturday by accident. In short: I have easily grilled my best steaks on this grill with ease - you will never want to go out to a steak house again! The drawers are nice - tons of storage. There is tons of grilling surface too, so I can always cooks for everyone at the same time. The infrared pan thing catches food and drippings so there's no flare ups, and everything is mighty easy to clean. It has castors, and it can be carried through a typical sliding door when fully assembled, which we weren't sure about until we did it. Some disadvantages we've noticed: -The side burner's cover discolors when you use it. minor cosmetic issue. -There were a few dents in our unit once assembled - we decided to let it go, but some might be more particular there. -Eating steak 4 times a week is actually kind of expensive :) June 16, 2012
