Purchased 10/2012. Manufacture recommends many things to prolong the life of your grill, proper maintenance and storage is suggested. I used the product as recommended, maintained it. When not in use the grill was stored in a storage closet and controller separately indoors. From the very beginning the temperature gauge said the grill was 450+ when only set to level 1. It was very unreliable, I did contact Char-Broil, unsuccessfully. I primarily relied on a meat thermometer.
After two years exactly both the controller and element went completely out, initially tripping a breaker in the house. I pulled the grill apart, both cracks in the element lines and a melted hole in the prong of the controller. You will see a response to any online review from Char-Broil requesting to be contacted with such issues because they "value you as a customer".
I did, as a courtesy- I started a case with Char-Broil prior to submitting any online reviews on the product. I was told by the first representative that the grill and components there of only have a life expectancy of 2 years, and that a customer should expect to have to replace the element and other parts at that point. The element is $49.95 and the controller is $49.95 + shipping (because no stores, such as Lowes sell such parts in store) total $113. The original purchase of the grill was $182.94. That's over 60% of the original and current retail value of the grill just two years after purchase. You do the math on whether that's a quality product for the price.
Char-Broil offered a 35% discount in the needed parts, as a courtesy. As one who relies on reviews for nearly every purchase I make- I hope others find my experience with this product and company alike helpful when making a decision to invest in the Char-Broil Bistro Patio Grill

Very nice grill, though have not yet used, but the value seems good, and it's certainly attractive.
Shipping was included, and am very happy with this purchase

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kalista Better than a gas grill!
I put most of this grill together before my fiance even got home from work! Very easy. My fiance loves to cook on this and always says how he prefers this over a gas grill.

This grill is small and just the right size for one or two people. The color and look is cute, however cleaning is a chore. It has to be dismantled every time you use it. It's built rather flimsy, just one solid ring that produces the heat. If you can't have a gas grill I guess this would be your next choice. I would rather use a indoor grill, I have one and it's easier to clean than this one. In fact I've used a George Foreman grill since I bought this one because of the easier cleaning. It as good as the Bistro and the difference in the taste is negligable. The gas one might be good, but I could not recomend this electric grill.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Mickster Very happy
All of our life we have wrestled with propane grills. The wife and I got to talking about buying a electric grill, and decided on this one. We purchased this grill and could not have been happier. Why did we wait so long?! This grill is compact, it's light, and easy to put together. This unit fits on our deck which is small and we have a retractable awning over the deck... the heat does not affect our roll up awning while cooking under it. Keep in mind It's just the 2 of us and don't barbeque every day. Even with smaller propane grills, we could never barbeque on the deck...until now. I believe we hit a home run with this.

Having condo restrictions on open flame barbecues made an electric barbecue my only choice. Have used it 3 times and am quite pleased with the results. Very good quality barbecue that was easy to assemble. The small footprint makes it ideal for a small balcony or patio.
The barbecue arrived and had a chip on the porcelain grate. I called Home Depot customer service and had a replacement witin a week. This was my first online purchase from Home Depot and I could not be more pleased. Their huge online product selection, free shipping offer and fantastic customer service will have me coming back.

I was real hesitant about buying an "electric" grill - having been a wood/charcoal cooker all my life - but this unit is incredible.
Had to do electric because of condo rules, and I'm completely satisfied. The key is to cook on high at first to sear, then turn it down and let the infrared do it's magic.
Let it fully heat-up (which takes about 15 minutes), then you're good to go. The cooking time, after searing, is much less than you might expect, so you can over cook real quick if you're not paying attention.
The unit delivers great grill flavor and I highly recommend it for anyone who has to use or wants to use an electric grill.
After the first month of use and much to my surprise, I am completely satisfied.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by dimack 500 degrees??? I dont think so
I cant even understand where they can advertise that the temp. can reach 500 degrees. We turned it on for almost a half hr and it barely was over 325 degrees (and this was in the 100 degree Nevada weather) . All in all though. for our use, still glad we purchased it. My home seems to hold the cooking odors, so using the electric grill on the patio is convenient and easy. Just have to plan ahead for pre heating. Havent used it in the Nevada winter yet, so hopefully it can still reach the 325 degree temp.
