The grill is great but compare to other grills similar to the price, it could have been designed much better such as making it easier to clean the ashes by designing an open at the bottom. Additionally, the grates are not all that great. Mine bend every time I Pick them up with the tongs to add charcoal. Overall, I'm okay with the purchase.

I received my smoker on 12/17/2014, just in time before Christmas and to found out that when my father and I put the smoker together there was DENTS in the metal almost ever where. I took pictures of it to call the head manager about my purchase/ order. I sure did NOT pay for a item to be damage, especially if it's brand NEW. I'm very upset and not satisfied with thus item. The dents won't hold the smoke for sure, to cook. It leaks smoke every where. I'm calling once again to get a FULL refund on the new/ damage item they sent me by UPS.

I have owned 4 of these over the last 20 years...
The New Bransfield "Hondo" Smoker where the original builders, much heaver gauge steel, but the design is the same, not as good on cold days but will still cook championship brisket if you are a cook! I see many amateurs complain about the pit, but experience is the only thing they don't have...this is not designed to use charcoal, this is a wood only pit...not designed for high temps, slow smoke at a lower temp is the key, 250 degrees for 1 hour, per pound...it will work fine.

I've always thought that I could get great smoked meats simply by using my weber kettle grill. The results were good, but nothing like the results I've gotten from this smoker. I like having the offset as opposed to having the fire underneath because I have more control over the heat.
I've used this product as a high heat grill a few times, and it has produced great even heat.
The metal seems a bit thin, but I have not had any problems yet with warping. I have seen some rust start to form on top of the smoke box but I cleaned it and treated it with some high heat spray paint.

uncle bought this exact unit a little over a year ago. So, I bought one
sine I liked it so much. Over this past year, they must have changed
the design... thinner gauge material, different design, poor
The con's: thin gauge material warped firts use, now door's dont seal;
firebox door does not stay open - poor construction; the finish
blistered off the firebox; shelf slanted terribly, cant put anything on
I broke the unit in properly, oiled it inside and out, I lit a small
fire first night, a little larger second night, third day was the
smoke. Did a 9 Lb pork butt and a 12 lb brisket. The meat came out
EXCELLENT... so very delicious. Just upset about the drastic decline in
quality after 1 year.

I did some research on you tube because to do the kind of meat smoking I want to do I needed to modify a few things but after I took care of all the things that needed to be addressed it worked great. Some people may say why would I buy a smoker for 200.00 that you have to modify well all I have to say is go look for a smoker with all the modifications that you have to do to it to get it to smoke like a pro it will cost a heck of a lot more money then the maybe fifty bucks extra I spent to fix it up..

Assembly was easy, but I have never had to use such a variety of tools to make it easy in the past. The engineer that designed this grill wanted to play a practical joke on the consumer. The grate for the small grill is just big enough that it is like a puzzle to put in or remove. The 2 pc grates for the large compartment are a bit to small and slides leaving a large gap in the center or on the sides. The lower grates leave enough room that you can almost add a 3rd pc. After one use I had to pry the side vent open with a screwdriver.
