Answer:
it will heat up quick enough. The real problem is you cannot control the heat with the dials. No matter what setting, it will approach 525 to 600 degrees.

Answer:
Yes, very long. I use more gas with this grill than any other I have ever had and believe it is due to the long preheat time. I would not recommend this grill for that reason and a few others.

they are heavy so they must be cast iron. They will also warp a bit from the heat. I am not happy with this grill.

Answer:
Please remove the middle burner and make sure that it is clear of any blockages or obstructions. The burners can be flushed out with water or high-pressure air. Also try switching the temperature gauges to see if the same temperatures are produced. If this issue continues please follow this link to create a case with us... http://www.charbroil.com/support/case/create

Answer:
It could be one of two problems.
first is that the burner air/gas supply needs to be adjusted so more gas is allowed into the burner or it may not have been installed correctly. Please refer to assembly book that should have been supplied.
second is that the temperature gage is not reading correctly.
switch the middle temperature gage with an out side one and see what the temperature is reading

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 91 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Embarassing item GRill lasted less than a year. Although it is undercover, this "stainless steel" grill is rusting out. The igniter system doesn't work, and 2 of the gas knobs are sticky. Really shoddy quality. November 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great recommendation from Home Depot staff We were looking to convert our propane grill to a natural gas grill and had an idea of what we wanted. However, once we got to the store the department personnel asked us a few questions then steered us to this grill based on our habits. My boyfriend used to have very pricey Viking grill and had been dissatisfied with the other propane grills we have been using. At this time, he says he is much happier with the Charbroil TRU infrared and feels the cooking is much more consistent, no flare-ups, and super easy clean-up. We grill a lot, year round in CO and feel this was one of the best purchases we have made! August 13, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Bad choice I bought this to replace an aging popular brand that lasted 12 years. I grill was relatively easy to assemble. First trial out the grill failed to reach anything higher than 350 degrees when set on "Clean" function. I checked for leaks in the gas line and also the actual burners. I contacted Char Broil support and they suggested I check a few things- did that. They sent me a new valve kit. I replaced that and same result, nothing higher than 350 degrees. Never had an issue with the other grill achieving high temps. Never again will I buy Char Broil. Stick with Weber folks.... November 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smokey Flavor This grill lives up to the manufacturer's hype. My biggest concern when I purchased this was that, with the small openings on the grates, it would not give the same char-grill flavor I got when the flame touched the meet on my previous grills. But the infrared system is the best of both worlds - NO flame up and smokey flavor. The heat is the most even I've experienced on ANY grill. It also results in great grill marks on the meat as well. I added an electronic thermometer which basically eliminates the guess work in grilling. My only question would be, can I use oven cleaner on the grates? I'm trying to keep this grill in pristine condition and the grates are getting a bit crusty. September 14, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Still pleased after a year This was my first grill when I bought it about a year ago. I've cooked enough to go through about three tanks worth of fuel - at what appears to be an efficient burn rate. I did a bunch of research before I bought it, & I still think I got a good grill for the price that I paid. The grill heats up quickly and cooks evenly. There are some things I would change, like bigger wheels - but they do still allow me to move the grill around on my very rough concrete patio. One thing I really did not like is the coating on the grates they seem to be cast iron with a shiny coating which I guess may be a very thin ceramic coating. Unfortunately, this coating flaked off on me and I was always concerned about it getting in my food. So, I use the aluminum grate covers to cook my food on instead. Now that most of the porcelain has flaked off I'm probably going to cook directly on the grates since I just found out that the aluminum supposedly leaches into your food. I do like the infrared pan because it doesn't get too much build up. I don't use any special cleaners I just use water in a steel brush I know you're not supposed to use the brush a steal one but since the porcelain was flaking off anyways there wasn't much reason for me to use a nylon brush. I believe that the very high temperatures that I used in clean mode might have contributed to the porcelain flaking off but I can't believe it would have stayed on if I had been a little more careful. The flaking is the only reason I would not rate this 5/5. But, like I said, I'm very pleased with the grills performance . I've never really used the burner on the side but everything else has worked just like I expected. I haven't had any of the rusting problems or temperature problems that other people have reported. It did take a little while to assemble but I knew what I was in for so it wasn't too bad. June 27, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Waste of Money We bought this grill in August of 2013. We paid extra for the cover to protect the grill from the elements and from winter. The trough (that is the lower curved surface that conducts infra-red heat) is starting to rust through. That is a $40 part to replace. The electronic igniter works only when it wants to. That can be a $30 part or replacement wires are $3 a wire (there are four wires in total). Material quality is very cheap. It was a pain to put the grill together and because of the low quality, some parts are hard to fit together and some even bend! Take your money and buy a better brand (one that begins with a W comes to mind) even if it has fewer features. You'll be happier than purchasing this one. May 20, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent grill for the money. Not exceptional, but decent. I purchased one of these grills two years ago. As far as the burners, the grill still heats and cooks fine. The stainless plates that prevent flare-ups began to rust badly after about one year and now all four have large holes burnt through them so now it is basically just another propane grill. This is not a true infra-red grill. Look on line and do some research for true infra-red grills and you will see they cost many times more than one of these units. This is a decent grill for the money and about in the same price range as any economical grill will cost. Just don't purchase one thinking you will be getting a grill that will last any longer than any other inexpensive grill. Still worth the purchase price as long as you know what to expect. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We love this grill!! This grill is great. The infrared works as promised. The grill will literally heat up to the 750-800 degree range...turn your steaks 180 degrees twice and they look and taste better than your local steakhouse. Note to DIYers: DO NOT TAKE THIS HOME WITHOUT LETTING HOME DEPOT ASSEMBLE IT FOR YOU!! I requested it to stay in the box so that it would fit in my SUV...bad idea...took me 3 hours to assemble. #rookie November 4, 2014
