The biggest question I had when looking for stones is whether it would fit my Home Depot Vision Kamado smoker/grill. It does. The 3 "hands" sit on top of the inner charcoal area. The outer ring is where the grill sits normally but if you use this stone, your grill will sit on the stone instead.

this works well. u dont neccassaraly need this. You can put pan there to block the flames and get indirect heat. There are notches that makes the stone fit perfectly.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BBQboilermaker Great for smoking and as a pizza stone
I am very satisfied with my Akorn smoking stone. I have used it as a heat deflector for smoking, and as a pizza stone with great results!
As a heat deflector, I was able to easily dial in a temperature of 220 deg F measured at the grill grate for smoking. I was able to smoke pulled pork using the smoking stone with a drip pan on top, and it turned out moist and tender after eleven hours.
For pizza, I put the stone on top of the grill grate and heated the grill to 500 deg F (dome temperature). The pizza was fantastic with a crust crispy on the bottom, but soft in the middle with a great wood-fired flavor.
Before I bought the smoking stone I tried to go the cheap route and made my own heat deflector using a small round grill grate and a cheap pizza stone. However, the cheap stone cracked on the first use. The Akorn stone is thick, sturdy, and designed to withstand temperatures up to 800 deg F. I should have bought the Akorn stone in the first place since it was only a few dollars more than my homemade heat shield. Compared to similar products, the Akron stone seems like an excellent value.
Cleaning the stone is easy, just brush off with a wire grill brush or scraper. If you get drippings on the stone, just turn it over next time and cook on the other side. Anything on the underside of the stone will burn off leaving a clean surface for your next cook.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Lea70 Good stone, hard to get
I kept checking for it on line - always sold out. Finally signed up for email alert and was able to get it within a couple of weeks. Stone works great. Re-directs heat nicely. Have only tired it for chicken and pork roast.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GamecockGriller Worthwhile addition
I've used my Akorn with and without the smoking stone. On low-and-slow cooks, I prefer to use the stone instead of a pizza pan as a deflector. Seems like the temperture is more stable with the stone. I've cooked six pork shoulders in three cooks using a Pitmaster IQ120 to keep the temperature stable. I tried to maintain a 240 degree temp in the first two cooks, but had to relight the Akorn both times when my temps dropped to around 180 degrees. I was using a pizza pan as the deflector. In my third cook, I employed the new smoking stone and set the temp at 275 degrees. The grill held this temp well overnight. I like to think that the thick stone helped to stabilize my temps. The stone is easy to clean. I scrape it with a painter's helper and flip it over.
