Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Aguas Great, inexpensive wireless option (Same as Maverick ET732)
I'll preface this with saying I have only used this thermometer for one cook before I started getting e-mails pestering me to rate and review my purchase, but my first cook was a 12 pound packer brisket cooked for 16 hours on a BGE, which I consider to be a good first test.
Setup on the equipment was easy, though the instructions are long. The only things you need to know how to do are 1)install batteries, 2)connect probes, 3)set food high temp, 4)set grill high temp and 5)set grill low temp. I was ready to go in just a few minutes after unboxing.
As far as the cook went, everything went just fine. The transmitter checks temperatures on the grill and food probes every few seconds or so and displays those on the transmitter. Once every 15-45 seconds, that information is sent to the receiver, so you may see drastic jumps in temperatures if you are heating up or cooling down the grill. Only once during my 16 hour cook did I get out of range of the transmitter with the receiver and have to go resync the connection, but the receiver never left my coffee table 50' away from the transmitter.
The probes appear to be well made, and a quick check with boiling water showed them to be accurate enough for grilling. The braided wire is long enough to insert the probes and set the transmitter on a nearby table or just barely on the ground. There was a light mist during half of my cook which caused no issues with the transmitter or probes due to the weather tight construction.
Overall, based on my first experience, this is a great thermometer at a better price than buying the rebranded Maverick ET732. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars was the one resync that was required and the fact that I've only used it once. I will try and update this review in the future.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sirtoyou Probes do not work very long and can't be purchased as replaacement parts
The remote units work fine but the probes quit working after about 5 months. Now I cant figure out where to buy new probes so I have useless remote units. The Char-Griller web site doesn't have these units on there for purchase or parts so I guess I'm stuck unless someone can tell me of another probe that would work.

Despite several other reviews to the contrary, the setup was really easy. The range on the transmitter is a little less than the 300ft that is indicated, but overall its a good prodcut. A word of caution regarding the wires running to the probes; do not pull on the wire inserted into the food probe at all, as the wire and sensor will detach and pull out of the probe. This happened to me when I needed to reposition the probe in a still raw pork butt and I had a devil of a time putting it back together and getting it calibrated again. Otherwise it met my expectations.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by LCW22 This is Junk
This thing is the example of over engineered. But with dumb features.
1 - The transmitter needs to have the battery compartment opened with screws. While the reciever uses a slide cover. WHY? Two different departments must have designed this.
2 - The instructions are written in such a way as you do not know which set of instructions to use. The instructions might be part of a Mensa test?
I tried to test this today before I somked a turkey next week. A joke.
The one thing that did work was the transmitter and seem to give accurate temps for both the smoker temp and the meat temp. The reciever did not work. The reason I purchased this was so I did not have to constantly go to the smoker and monitor the temps.
You can get one that does that for half the price.
I will be returning it to the store tomorrow.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Smitty Needs calibration!
1st use meat was well over cooked. Second time I used other thermometers to compare readings and found that new gauge was 10 to 15 degrees low. Is there any way to have it re-calibrated and brought up to snuff? Please advise.
I hope to hear from you soon.

This thing works great! I can watch the football games and not worry about my food, or my fire. I'm sitting on an acre and I can go from corner to corner of my yard without losing contact. Definitely changed my method of grilling/smoking for the better!

I read aaaa-llllot about people having problem syncing, but with good batteries and making sure I always turning on the [emphasis] RECEIVER *FIRST* I have had zero issues syncing the two units.

This thermometer is necessary, due to the fact that the Akorn's thermometer is wholly inaccurate. Moreover, this thermometer allows one to pursue other responsibilities(watching Chase Elliott race :)), while being able to remotely monitor your cook. Am able to react to a minor changes in grill temp, go adjust dampers, get back to cook temp, get back to watching race. Pretty neat deal.
