Answer:
If your artificial tree doesn't have a stand of its own and has a truck of around 4 inch+ it likely could be used. I can make no guarantees though since this stand is intended for a live tree and it make not hold an artificial tree well.

Answer:
I think artificial trees have fairly thin "trunks" and they are naturally balanced so you really shouldn't need anything this large or heavy duty.

On the directions for the tree stand it says to cut 1/2 inch cut straight across the end of the tree trunk. Why do you need to do this ?

Answer:
This really is to try and help the tree absorb water once it is in the stand. It is certainly not a requirement of using the stand. It is recommended that you have around inch cut off the bottom of the tree when purchased and should be in water within an hour.

Always make a fresh cut on the bottom of the tree to open up the pores, which have been clogged by sap. Cut off at least one-half inch. If you do not make a fresh cut, the tree will not be able to drink water.
After the cut is made, put the tree in water as soon as possible. The longer the time between when the tree is given a fresh cut and when it is put into water, the less ability the tree has to Read More

Answer:
Probably not. I purchased this stand yesterday and our tree has a trunk of around 4 inches and it barely can reach. This is an excellent stand for a larger tree. Likely an 8 ft+ tree.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Tree Stand ever purchased I've had the metal stands, plastic cheap stands, 'x' stands, but nothing compares to this Cinco Express Tree Stand! This is the most sturdy tree stand I've ever purchased. My tree was about 9' tall this year, and it didn't move at all. Plenty of water capacity for those who forget to water every day, and it has a lip on the outer edge for those who accidentally spill some water. Three people who saw this stand in my house wound up buying the same one within a few days, even replacing their stand after the tree was up and decorated. If I could, I'd give this stand 10 stars!!! Simply awesome, thank you! January 6, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best stand I've seen The stand was very easy to assemble and use. Once the tree was in it held it very well and has a very large reservoir for water. This stand really is intended for larger trees though. My wife and I bought a tree right around 8 feet and it was extremely fat and the trunk at ~4 inches still required the bolts to be screwed in nearly all the way to hold it. If you have a small tree you may want to look for a different stand. December 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A good buy! 2015 we got a 10' tree, it was the largest and he heaviest that we had gotten and it was an off balance tree. We had a metal stand that bent under the weight, a plastic one that was just too small, this one is large, but it did the job nicely. I was torn on it's plastic construction, but it is heavy duty and I purchased this over a similarly priced metal unit. Glad I got this one. November 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Longer clamps please!! Overall a nice stand. Seems durable enough and easy to set up. The biggest problem I see with the stand is that the bolts that clamp the tree in place are not nearly long enough. If the clamps were longer it would be great. I have an 8' tree the base is I'd say normal size for a Christmas tree and does not clamp tight. December 7, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BEST PURCHASE! I always love big, fat trees and had trouble finding a stand to accommodate the tree's size. This came highly recommended and didn't cost an arm and a leg so I figured I'd give it a try...and I am SO happy I did! My fiancee and I were able to put the tree up very easily (it was nearly 10 ft tall) and it stayed up nice and straight all month long! Only downfall is that this tree stand did not come in a box (could have been because I was using the Free In Store Pickup service, but I don't think so), so I don't have anything to store it in and it's rather bulky. Just make sure you have a storage container or closet space for it and you'll be fine! January 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by best tree stand ever owned this was my first year to have a real tree in 10 years because my last real tree fell over and broke many of my precious ornaments. I finally decided to try a real tree again, and based on a recommendation from a friend, got this tree stand…. literally have never put up a tree so easily, and adjusted and tightened straight the first time we put tree in stand. Highly recommend. December 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sturdy stand Good size stand that held our heavy 10' tree. Great that it holds over 3 gallons of water. The clips that allow you to move the screws without having to screw them all the way in or out work ok, but not great. Would buy again. January 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best "large tree" stand ever Because of the large water basin, it was easy to water the tree and it avoided any drying out. After two weeks the tree was as fresh as the day it was cut. Setting up the tree in the unit was a breeze. January 27, 2015
