Customer Questions & Answers

How heavy are these studs?

I have a 4' x 8' trailer I want to make an enclosure on. Since the trailer is small I want to know which would be heavier, metal or wood?
Asked by: EA
These studs weigh 0.348 lbs per foot, so an 8' stud would be 2.784 lbs.

How are they supported the floor and each other

Asked by: Sunny
The studs fit inside the floor/ceiling track. They are then mini screwed together. Mini screws are small self tapping screws. To secure to floor, of its concrete you must predrill the floor and use falcons to secure to the floor. Tacoma are blue concrete screws, each box contains a drill bit for drilling the floor. A hammer drill is required to properly drill concrete floors.

How much weight can it support?

Asked by: Alex
25 gauge steel framing is non load bearing. Use would be for a basement finish, adding a closet in an existing room, or interior partitions. The stud when framed in a wall assembly will support drywall and/or plywood you put on it, along with insulation, electrical, smaller pictures or shelves just fine. If you need to hang cabinets, large shelving, large heavy pictures, or other permanent items on your walls after drywall, I would most definitely use a heavier gauge stud with flat strap backing over the top of it where you would be screwing said items to the wall.

matching track?

Why don't I see the matching 3-5/8" track offered from HD? I see the 2-1/2" track listed but not 3-5/8".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My go-to for all my outdoor projects. Beats wood for outdoor structures. I've built a outdoor kitchen, shed and fence pillars with this product. The only downside for the average DIY is having the right tools. A small impact driver and a miter saw with an abrasive blade make the job easy. Most people are set up for wood. Highly recommend this product.
