lock?

Same question as previous: Can this door knob be used for a bathroom door? meaning can it be locked?
Asked by: Searching
Hi Searching, yes this door knob can be locked. Below is from the installation/assembly section of instructions. Slide the threaded backplate over the spindle on the non-locking side of the door. Slide its mate (with screwholes) onto the other side. The privacy holes should be closest to the latch side of door. Screw the backplates together, snugly but not too tight. Screw the fi rst doorknob onto the spindle on the locking side of the door. Now screw on the second knob, bringing it up snugly, allowing the plates to align themselves. Screw the privacy button though the plate on the locking side and into the latch. Tighten the backplate screws. Now, unscrew the knobs about 1/2 turn or just until they turn freely. Finishing the Knob Installation: Next, tighten all set screws, making sure that they are straight against the fl at part of the spindle (a slight wiggle can help to set them in place). Try the doorset, making sure that everything works smoothly. Lastly, remove each set screw and coat their threads with fi ngernail polish or threadlock. Replace each. Using the Doorlock: To lock the door, push in the privacy button. To unlock the door, simply turn the inside doorknob. To gain emergency access from the non-locking side of the door… insert a small, blunt instrument (the enclosed Allen wrench works well) into the emergency hole located next to the doorknob. Pushing gently will disengage lock. http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/d6/d68e0e6e-f201-4dfb-a589-b0042dfcb220.pdf

Customer Reviews

Classic Satin Nickel Waldorf Crystal Privacy Knob is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from awesome classic touch for new doors Renovating an old house with many crystal mortise style door knobs, but there were a few doors that were drilled for newer door knobs (previous owner used modern hardware). Wanting to match the aesthetic of the crystal door knobs, I tried a few other options that didn't work. Either they were set up for smaller holes or set up to work with a classic cartridge, but the other options couldn't be secured. But not this knob, this one was perfect. It fit newer style holes, the plates screwed into themselves for a secure, tight fit and the adjustable rod made for easy customization for for thickness. The privacy button is well engineered for smooth operation and easy use. And I like the two set screws which is an improvement over traditional knobs. As a bonus, the old style knobs fit on the new rod (at least mine did).
