I am rebuilding the entire garage facade and have never installed doors before, but the directions were clear and easy to follow and I was able to install them by myself (although it would have been easier with help).

Bought two doors to spruce up our 90 year old garage. Installation was fairly straight forward and the end result was great. The enclosed DVD was extremely helpful. I recommend watching it in it's entirety before attempting installation and then having it handy to reference. The paper instructions were a bit limited. ONE BIG WARNING: OPEN THE BOXES BEFORE LEAVING HOME DEPOT AND INSPECT ALL OF THE PANELS THOROUGHLY!!! I tore out one of my old doors and then opened a box to start installation and got an unpleasant surprise. After opening both boxes, I discovered that 6 out of 8 panels were dented (some really badly), even though the boxes showed no damage. I was forced to use two of the least damaged panels to close up my garage. Home Depot would not come and pick up the damaged door or give me any credit for the damaged panels I had to use. Had to go through the inconvenience of borrowing a friend's pick-up truck a second time to exchange one door at the store. Live and learn!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by fastniky Nice door, great insulation, but...
Ok, so my wife and I purchased one of these in store. The packaging was pretty torn up on several of the doors. We picked the least torn up one. The aisle had a pallet of steel doors in it that I had to move by hand. So suffice to say, I was not happy by this point. After looking around for about 10 minutes we found a cart to load it by ourselves! No help to be found! At the check out a HomeDepot guy was walking by and asked if we needed help loading it. Nice guy. We get it home and find the instructions lacking. We're both engineers and couldn't make heads nor tails out of the drawings to instructions. Had to go buy a DVD player to see the DVD installation included with the door. Ok, that was good and helped a lot! They need to re-write the instructions. Maybe checkout Legos for an example or Ikea to see how it should be done!

Instructions are less than clear and not completely accurate. Step-by-step drawings would assist first-time installers like myself. The plastic lift handles are cheap looking and the inside right angle lift projections (I wouldn't even call them handles) are absolutely minimal and don't offer a good grip. The overall installed appearance is good.

Shopped around and HD had the best prices and broadest selection. As usual! Have had to buy several major item/appliances this winter and have ended up purchasing online at HD for value, ease of shopping, good customer service, free delivery, installation and haul away, friendly and knowledgable delivery/installation people. Just an all around good experience. Do my homework before I buy, and no one can beat HD prices and services. Will be back!!!

Just replaced two 19 year old Clopay doors with these new ones. These new ones were basically a one-for-one identical replacement of my old ones. I painted the new doors and installed the hinge hardware before my actual installation day. For installation, I started by disassembling one existing door and then installing its replacement. Between the instructions and still having my second door as an example it wasn't too bad. Tough to say how much I relied on the instructions instead of looking at my old door, but there were definitely some spots where the instructions were lacking. My existing door rear track supports and garage door opener could be used over again without any modification. There were some details about which track/bracket holes to use for hardware installation that I wasn't able to get from the instructions. Saw some interferences after installing the first door that required some re-work. Second one went much faster. Took two of us about 2.5 hrs on the first door and 1.5 hours on the second door (again having done some prep work before installation day). The new door rollers/track are significantly quieter than my previous doors. I skipped on installing the lifting handles. The handles were plastic, involved drilling holes through the door, and I never used them on my old door. I installed the door about a month ago now and it is very sturdy and I'm quite pleased with.
