Can you adjust the mounting location of the closet rods?

Our closet is only 12" deep so I need to mount the closet rods at a specific location. Is it possible to mount the rods at different locations/depths on the shelving unit?

Answer:
If you want to hang items, you need enough depth to handle the width of the clothes hanger and garment. Most closets are 24" deep for this reason.
The recommended depth for the rod is near the front edge of the shelving unit.
I considered building my own unit, but it was cost effective to buy the unit. So you could use the unit without any of the rods and save them for another location.

Answer:
Yes you can mount the rod anywhere. You just need to determine the depth and height and drill the holes for the anchors. I raised mine up to allow for shoes on the floor not to be covered by low hanging clothing.

Yes, you can mount the rods where ever you wish. We ended up screwing them into the area where the shelf was, so that it made it a little stronger.

Answer:
If you look on the specs, it will tell you the minimum depth needed. You have to install the hardware for the rods, so you do have some room for adjustment, but I don't think this will work for a 12" deep closet.

Answer:
Yes, you can mount the hanging rods at any level or depth you wish, as long as one end is securely mounted to the wall and the other on the shelving unit. TIP: Always remember to measure the width of the largest hanger you will be using, the minimum depth is determined by this measurement.

Answer:
Yes it is . I actually put all 3 rods on one side because of the shape of my closet and it works perfectly for me . The unit does not actually have pre- drilled holes for the rods which allows you to put them on either side in any location. However you just can't put them with in 1in of the top ..

I only have a 36 inch wide closet for my daughter's nursery. Instead of using 3 hanging rods, can you just use the two but on the left side?

Answer:
If the shelf unit is all the way against the wall on one side you could just hang two rods on one side. The shelf will need some kind of support on each side, either the wall or a rod.

yes-you have to install the hardware for the hanging rods anyway, so you can use one, two or three rods. We actually bought an extra rod so we could double hang both sides.

Answer:
Assuming that you will have the tower unit on one side and into a corner, you may definitely only put the rods on one side of the unit. Be 100% sure to secure the tower unit to the wall, as it will assure stability. We include in the kit those items necessary to secure the tower, but you may want to purchase a few additional pieces to really solidify it.

The shelf unit attaches to the wall with 4 "L" brackets. You also attach the rods from end to end which also helps secure the shelf unit.

The unit consists of 2 pieces that stack on top of one another. Once the 2 pieces are stacked, you mount the unit to the wall via the included brackets. We've attached the portion of the instruction sheet that outlines this step.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 57 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Closet Organizer My closet was only four foot so I put shelving against the wall and used two of the bars. It worked great this way for me. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tripled my Closet Space! My fiancé and I just bought our first home together and the old closets just had one single bar and so much wasted space! He was able to put this together and install in about 30 minutes. I couldn't be happier with my closet now - looks like one in a brand new home. Would highly reccomend. April 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy! Don't buy this unless you have hands the size of a toddlers. The ridiculously small screws used for the L bracket is nearly impossible to get on. A drill won't fit inside and you have to be a body builder to screw it in with a screwdriver. That is if you can keep the miniscule screw on the screwdriver in the first place. The directions are awful and hard to read with three languages side by side, plus the fact that you have to move back and forth between pages to figure out how to install something. Could the graphics be any worse? January 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value Great value for the price. This inexpensive closet organizer was purchase to add to a child's closet with some existing organizers. Blends perfectly & adds lots of hanging space. March 3, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ok product I purchased 2 of these and the shelves work great the bars on the other hand ripped off the shelving unit after we put clothes on them. If i could rate a 2.5 that's where I would be on this product. Shelves are great and the bars need more support. February 10, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Very annoying. At a glance this looks like a simple closet shelf to install. Unfortunately the directions are poorly written, the screws difficult to install without starter holes, the white cover caps don't fit correctly, and when I finally managed to get the shelf up- the poles were too long! They don't have a minimum closet width listed on the box so I assumed it would fit my slightly above average sized closet. Now trying to figure out how to cut the poles, very frustrating. Also a tip- flip the top 2 shelves so unfinished particle board faces up or else you look up and see it. Cheap and frustrating- would return if I didn't already invest hours into it and have holes drilled into closet wall. I wish closet maid atleast sold shorter poles so I could go buy them instead of cutting these. January 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect I used this product as well as the 16 inch tower to make my closet space exactly what I needed . I had a large reach in closet with no rod or storage at all. Now I have a large usable organized space. I put both shelving units in the middle to create more of a his & hers type closet. I put everything together myself while my fiance was at work with just a power drill & screwdriver. February 23, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Just what I needed The unit was easy to assemble. I have an odd shaped closet; its the width of a standard door and about 3.5ft long. I only used rods on one side of the unit since the closet was so small. The unit was delivered with considerable damage. The particle board was very broken in several places. I did not remove the base board molding, just installed at a slight angle. The shelves are not laminate coated on both sides so you can see the particle board on the taller shelves. The shelves are also not adjustable. I included pictures, but I customized it significantly. I purchased a 3 drawer closet maid system from target that had hardware for 3 drawers that fit the width and depth of this system. The target unit is shorter, so I wall mounted the smaller unit. I also, purchased extra shelf pieces and manually fixed them, as the shelf height with the ones provided is very tall. January 1, 2014
