Customer Questions & Answers

How much weight will this 20 inch wire shelf bear when installed in a garage on a dry wall?

Asked by: Anonymous
The shelf is not what supports that weight it is the shelf track and the shelf track brackets. The more weight you want to support the more track and brackets you need. If you mount the shelf track to studs 16" on center and then attach brackets to each track you can support a lot of weight.

Can the store cut this down to short lengthss?

144" will get me five shelves in the pantry I want to put this in, but will not fit in my car. Can home depot cut this down to size for me, or will I need to bring a hacksaw and do it in the parking lot?
Asked by: RichardInSeattle
There is an electric wire cutter in most Home Depots where an associate can cut the shelving for you at no cost.

How do you hang

Asked by: Anonymous
Using the hanging brackets bought at store. Find wall studs and use drywall screws. Braces every 2'-3' or every other stud in the wall. Use end hangers.

Hello, I want to hang some of this shelving in the garage. what is the recomendations for open ended, on studs, no dry wall flake board was used for the walls in this case. The ? on Home Depots web alludes to an answer, but it is not provided there. Nor can I find the recommended method of hanging on your web site.
Asked by: Paul
The Close Mesh shelf has closer wire deck to keep items from falling through. It can be installed using a fixed-mount system with anchoring hardware and support brackets. It can also be installed using the adjustable ClosetMaid ShelfTrack system with Hang Track and Brackets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product I have this shelving along a wall in my basement. I used it combined with plastic totes to make a storage system. It is loaded down with hundreds of pounds of weight, no sag at all. If you know basic principles of construction you will have no issues with weight. I mounted shelf track every 16" OC with concrete fasteners and then attached shelf track brackets to each track. I have 10 shelf tracks with 30 shelf track brackets and 3 of these shelves-works great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great but weak material Remodeling pantry and decided to use wire shelves verses wood. Looks attractive but after filling shelves with can goods and liquid bottles, the shelving material shags considerably from front to back. Light materials on shelves, OK, heavy materials on shelves, not OK. I hope it doesn't fail.
