We bought three Closetmaid base cabinets—two base cabinets, and one tall one. All of them are very poor quality. We are used to Ikea stuff, which, as long as you follow the instructions, tends to go together well and be relatively sturdy for the price.
Closetmaid offers a dramatically worse experience. The parts do not go together well, and the instructions leave lots of room for error. For example, it's up to you to put screws through the center of things, and if you screw it up—which is easy to do—the screw ruins the finished face. Even my wife had these problems, and she's more careful and patient than I am.
And now that the things are put together, they work terribly. The sliding hardware on the top drawers rubs against the wood, so the drawers don't open without you throwing your body weight around. I'm guessing this is because they are not perfectly square, which is arguably my fault. But I've never had this problem with Ikea. I'm on the verge of throwing them in the dump and trying to find equivalent Ikea cabinets.
These are garbage. Don't buy.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by PHIL Solid Wood - Excellent quality
It took about 1.5 hours to assemble the 1st one - 45 minutes the second. The first thing I noticed is the weight of this cabinet; it is HEAVY. Solid wood on all sides, doors and drawer. The finish is a glossy white, that really pops.
The only problem I had assembling the first one was I confused the shelf board for the top of the unit. The two pieces are VERY similar in size, but they're not. It was a simple fix that I was able to correct; no harm no foul.
I would definitely recommend this unit.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by FloridaGal Poorly made and cheap looking.
I purchased two of these lower cabinets together with the melamine work top to create a uniform looking cabinet. The construction requires the use of wood glue, leaves exposed exterior screws which must be covered by stickers, and nearly every corner of each piece was damaged and the material exposed. I was forced to do my best with craft paint to camouflage the damaged areas. This is for a laundry room in Florida, I'll be shocked if they last a year. Gave two stars because the front looks nice now that it's all assembled. Assembly also required more than a basic working knowledge of furniture assembly. Go with the Home Decorators brand instead. It's far superior in quality and easy of assembly.

We purchased 3 top and 3 bottom cabinets for our laundry/mud room. Cabinets arrived with damage from the manufacturer,, i.e. chips, swollen from water damage, cracks in some of the pieces. Had to make several repairs with industrial adhesive to make the cabinets work. One of my worst purchases from Home Depot. The back of the base cabinets are cardboard.
