Answer:
You'll need at least 17" depth to install them. The brackets that hold the front of the shelves add another inch to the depth. I used the clip style anchors that screw into studs above and below the shelf for mounting against the back wall though. You may want to add another 1/4" if you're using drywall clips.

Answer:
If you are using the ClosetMaid ShelfTrack hang track, standards, and brackets for quick installation and adjustability, approximately 17 in. will be needed to account for the standard and bracket. If using traditional, or fixed, mount hardware to attach to the wall, only an additional .25 in. is required when attached with wall clips, support poles and end brackets.

Our kitchen pantry has one wall that is at 45 degree angle to the back wall of the pantry. Can the ventilated wire shelf be cut at an angle? I want to avoid wasting valuable storage space.

Answer:
You won't be able to really make a true angled cut, since you'll end up having unsupported strands of thin wire at the edges, without any of the thicker structural wires supporting them.
However, you may be able to do a stairstep pattern back to each of the structural wires, and have each structural wire reach a little farther into the corner.

Answer:
I would say yes, you can cut it at an angle. As was mentioned in the response from the manufacturer, this would make it harder to provide support. If you make sure to provide adequate support, I'd say go for it!

Answer:
All ClosetMaid wire shelving can be cut either at the store with the assistance of a store associate or at your home with a bolt cutters or hack saw. However cutting at a 45 degree angle as described, would remove the structural support of shelf. So unfortunately, it is not recommended to alter the shelf in this manner.

Answer:
The coating of our wire products is vinyl. For any installtion relating to pets, we'd suggest using products specifcally produced for pet applications. Should products not exist, we'd reccomend speaking with your veternarian to determine the potential implications of using coated-wire products.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very sturdy and economical shelving Good economical and easy to install shelving. Good buy for the money. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty easy to install I installed a pantry with the CloseMaid products and everything fit well and went as expected. This was my first time tackling a project like this so I was pleased how it turned out. Because it was in an "L" configuration, I should have used a laser level to make sure the brackets on both walls allowed the shelves to be the same height, but a bubble level worked OK. I made all my cuts with a hacksaw but I was a little tiring! All in all not a bad experience. August 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice shelfing Shelving is easy to install, most of the required products for installation were available in store. Easy to cut to length. I opted not to use the 45 degree support brackets since is would cut into the available shelve space on the shelve below. I used a piece of 1/2" aluminum angle iron to support the middle of the shelve since I am using this shelving in a pantry, and it will have a lot of weight on it. August 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't buy these for your pantry This wire shelving is much weaker than the stuff used by the builder of my home 15 years. I bought this to replacing my old shelving that started to show some rust. The close wire is what you use in a pantry. The shelving bent under the load of a few canned goods. Why don't they make them strong like years ago. I should have returned them, but now they are all custom cut for my closet. I lost big money. July 25, 2015
