This was hard because the closet had to be cleaned out to put this in. Once the hard decisions were made we began work on the assembly. We decided to use only the shelving unit because that involved removing the least hardware already in the closet and one wall is an angled wall. The assembly directions were very good and the 2 units went together quickly. Putting them together and attaching to the wall was not hard. The directions were good. I was a little disappointed in the finish because it scratched and peeled pretty easy. Other than that, I like the finished look - would have loved to had the double rods had we put it on the other wall and still might re-arrange at some time in the future. I must admit that closet re-organizing is an overwhelming task for me. I was pleased when finished even though the picture does not look all that organized.

For the price of this closet organizer, I couldn’t be happier! I was expecting something lightweight and cheap, but I knew my expectations were wrong when the FedEx guy told me he could barely carry it on his own. This thing is surprisingly sturdy!
Assembly was easy. The other reviewers who had said it was time consuming and complicated must’ve never assembled anything from Ikea; comparatively, this was a breeze. I did it by myself and it only took a couple hours to assemble. Just pay attention to the instructions and you’ll be fine. I didn’t scratch anything and the screws didn’t chip or split any of the panels. The only thing I’d say Closetmaid should have done differently is include a small tube of wood glue since it’s required for assembly…no big deal though, I think most people own wood glue.
Installation was also easy and only took me about an hour. You just center the cabinet, secure it to the wall, mount the brackets for the rods and snap the rods in. That’s it. They even include drywall anchors.
My wife and I love this organizer. We didn’t lose any hanging space because there are two rods on one side (making up for the space the cabinet takes up), but we gained a lot of shelf space. Although dark, you’ll see in my pictures it’s a lot easier to keep our stuff organized. Rather than piling it up on one long shelf, we have a lot of shelves to spread our stuff out on. We’re very happy with this product!

This was an awesome way to modernize the original 1960's closet that was put in when the house was built (clunky wood dowels and shelves) It looks very high end and it was actually really easy to put together. There really aren't even a lot of parts that you have to put together, just the two shelves that stack on each other, everything else just bolts to the wall or to the unit itself. I got an extra 18 inches of hanging space compared to my old closet plus all of the shelves for storage. For the price you absolutely can't beat this system. I bought the middle unit and then 3 extra shelves. I have only put in one shelf on top so far, and I am deciding on a shelf on the bottom under the high-side hanging rod. I cant honestly say that I never, ever........ever right reviews and this is the first one I have done. I plan on buying more for the other closets in the house now as well.

I followed the instructions to a t...but still had to disassemble some parts before final assembly because the instructions were wrong in a couple of places..Also, I worked with this on a carpeted floor with a tarp over the carpet..Was very careful with the pieces, but the veneer still chipped off in some places..Especially along the edges..Yes, it's pressed wood, but the quality still should have been better. The color is nice and it seems sturdy, but that really doesn't matter when you see the chips and tears from the veneer. Could have been a really nice piece of furniture..Anyway, it's up, (except for the bars, I'll finish that tomorrow.) the wife says it looks ok, so that's all that really matters I guess. What I will do before I do the other half of the closet is take measurements from this and make my own shelving with pin and pocket hole jigs, from real wood.

We bought 2 of the hutch look and put them side by side. Looks like a piece of furniture. Only bought one of the 25" bookcase one. Absolutely love it. Made a once disorganized closet into something you see in magazines. I no longer just throw the clothes anywhere. They all have a permanent place to be.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MacHi Helps my mess - um, my closet - look a whole lot better!
We have put together kits like this for years so this one was no different. Decent quality for what you expect and pay for. No need to remove baseboard because in my house, they're pretty thin. Once attached to wall behind it (and the sides with rods), the unit stood nice and tall and obviously not going anywhere. All the parts and pieces were included and nothing was damaged. Love the color - makes my closet look fancy and rich. The non-fixed shelves are easy to move around. Rods are sturdy enough to hold my hanging clothes. Makes me interested in getting more of these units for the rest of my bedrooms' closets.

A little background from me: before this product came along, we had wire shelving in our closet. This caused numerous problems for us, because three of the shelves were way too high for us to place anything on it, and even if we played our cards right, the extra clothes and socks could not be placed on the shelves properly without some clothes overlapping others and sliding off the shelf. We needed something with better organization, a modern look, and stability. It was a perfect time for this product to shine.
This required some advance preparation, however. Tearing out wire shelving is a daunting and rather messy task! Everything was either nailed or screwed into the wall, leaving gaping holes when we were done. So we patched up all the holes, repainted the walls, and finally we were ready for the installation step! Hopefully you haven't put wire shelving into your closet, we highly advise against it! Also, I needed to change out the closet's flooring with some Handscraped Saratoga Hickory 7 mm Thick x 7-2/3 in. Wide x 50-5/8 in. Length Laminate Flooring WHICH you can buy at Home Depot for an awesome price if you're looking into that kind of thing!
Installation was not as difficult. Every operation was rather easy to understand and follow. You simply put two cabinets together, screw the first one into the wall (find the wall studs if you can, for more stability!), place the second one on top of the first and screw that one into the wall as well, and then mark your holes for the hanger bars; proceed to screw in the necessary anchors, snap in the hanger bars, and you are finally done! Everything is quite sturdy; the hanger bars can withstand the weight, better than the residential wire shelving we had before, and the shelves are nifty. My wife has given me the smaller middle shelf (bottom of the second cabinet) to use as a place for my keys, wallet, cell phone, a book etc., so that's cool! The shelves can all be adjusted which is great, but we balanced each one out to give it equality. What's also cool but unnecessary for us is, you can place two of these products together on a corner to give you even more organization. But for the clothes we have, this is a perfect product to handle all the organization and clothes hanging and stowaway we could ask for. Yes it's particle board, but when it is all put together, it doesn't seem cheaply made; in fact, it's all very sturdy. The backboard that bends does show a crease, but when nailed into the back of the shelving units, the crease is not as noticeable. The trim that is placed on in the final steps really gives it a nice touch!
Overall, we are very pleased with the product; it was quite easy to put together and install, and works to our expectations. I can't think of any better product to replace it with if given the option. When we think back to what we had before, and look at what we have now, we are never going back! It looks good and just works.
