Let's be honest it's pressed wood. But I love it. Your space will dictate if it's hard to install or not. Stay focus, take your time. BIG ADVICE...buy some Old English scratch touch up and with q-tip touch up anywhere you see light wood.take the time to go in each holes exposed from not holding a shelf. Gives it a finished look. Also we spray painted the brackets brown to match unit again a finished look. Btw spend the money and get matching hangers , I cannot tell you enough the difference it makes. I am proud to say there are NO plastic tube hangers in my home now : )

I absolutely love my new Closetmaid closet. I choose the chocolate brown wood. I have so much room that a couple of the shelves are actually empty. I also love how I can add drawers, etc at a later date. It was was easy to assemble - I am a single mom and I was able to do it by myself.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EJL775 Great look for a great price
You cannot beat the price of this closet system. After the closet that my developer put in my condo I needed something "richer" and more functions, this was the perfect solution. Building the towers took about 5 hours (I had three to build). Read prior reviews about taking your time and add finishing details like filling in the holes not being used with dark stain (Old English). Its really the finishing touches that give this closet that truly custom look. I could not be happier with the way this turned out. My only knock on this product is the brackets and clothing rods. The brackets are cheap plastic and much larger than they need to be and the rods are a little flimsy as they expand. Over all very happy and the brackets and rods can easily be replaced.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by adamandeve not the best kind of product but its beautilful
I have been wanting to have a closet that will hold all our stuff esp for my husband. I came across with this and told him maybe we will get it some time. I was very happy that one day he said he will be buying it, so we made the calculations online on how many kits we are going to buy based on our closet's measurement and then went to the store and have most of it but not all of it so we just order it online and have it shipped home. The package has minor defects which u will expect coz of the type of material its made of, few scratches and the sides were peeled off., in which I don't bother to return to the store coz its just minimal. The instructions were very clear and easy but still we had put it up for how many hours coz we have our kids with us that wants to help (LOL), so it takes us a lot of time to put all together. In our case, we put the rods first then the top shelf the last the next week and all I can say is, it should not be the case coz u will end up taking the rods again and put back again...better top shelf and then the rods and also to avoid making more holes on the item. And also even u have a carpeted floor, if u slide it or drag it, still makes some scratches or peels off. For our case also, we had small areas so we need to cut the top shelf to fit it and the bad thing is, the brackets that comes with the package was already discontinued and we had put it aside coz we need more of those brackets and we ended up buying different kind and cut it and made holes on it. For me it would be nice to use the same materials that comes with it but sometimes u have to compromise. As I look at our finished closet, I cant say its perfect but its very nice and beautiful. I can't help going back in there from time to time to look at it..LOL.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by enginerd Best Cheap Customizable Closet System!
Great color, finish, and build. Mixing and matching drawers, shelves, and towers is an easy and fast way to get your closet looking much more organized and finished looking. The chocolate color looks great and the adjustable shelves are sturdy. If you add drawers on the bottom; they glides are smooth and quiet.
It does take a lot of time to put together. Some portions of the instruction are really good, while other parts are lacking. However, overall it is a pretty solid closet system that is reasonably priced and a good amount of options to add/customize.
There is some wasted space where the top and base meet; there is a non-adjustable shelf that leaves only a few inches gap. I guess you can use it for small items or accessories.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by MarkyH Problem with manufacturing?
I was trying to set up the unit in my closet and after stacking the top unit, I noticed one of the trim pieces (part G according to the instruction manual) failed to fit. I then realized the two top unit side panels were not exactly identical in length (off by 1/8 of an inches). The result -- I have to shim one side of the top shelf to make the unit level. The shimming left a noticeable gap on the installation.
I spent a lot of time trying to make the installation perfect but the quality really let me down.

My husband and I didn't want to spend a lot of money but needed more optimized space. This was a great solution. Very sturdy once we wall mounted it. Instead of buying the drawers we opted for storage baskets and the result is clean and functional!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by MarkJerry Good prodict - but product quality not good
I am used to IKEA products - all good quality and assemble perfectly. This product was excellent to assemble - although you you have to careful on some of the instructions which can be ambiguous. My grumble is the quality of the finish. Look at it and it scratches and marks. Apart from that it want together very well.
