Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by MarkC Using it for stereo equipment
Assembly was quick, quality is about as good as you can get for 21st century stuff. Don't like the cardboard back, but can replace with 1/4" plywood.
Could use some extra shelves, but they aren't available. Addition of drawer unit is a good idea for me- will order later.
A bit tall for my purpose, but not bad. Huge stereo equipment won't fit into conventional stereo furniture.

Only buy this product if you don't care if the colors of the cabinet sides and trim DON'T match the top or shelves for the unit. I spent $1800.00 and my cabinets look awful because of the color mismatch. It looks like they ran out of "Cherry " colored parts and just packaged what ever they had left over in the warehouse. Also, the holes for several of the drawers were misaligned and my husband had to drill holes to fix the problem. I'm not happy and would never buy this product again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wtwo I built and entire walk in closet with this product line, this was just the last piece. I LOVE it!
It took me some time to figure out which pieces I wanted and how to make them work, but it's because my closet is an odd shape. I had to buy this last piece because there were no 'extra shelves' available, but even though I paid for the whole piece, I thought it was a great value for the shelves I used.

Easy to assemble. Good instructions. Can serve either as a unit with shelves or accommodates drawers (sold separately).

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by LMRS Great shelves, problem with the drawers
The shelving unit is great. We purchased two and stacked them for a taller unit. There was a major problem with the drawers. The website had an incorrect link and we originally purchased the drawers for the smaller unit. If the runners don't match the holes or the drawers are slightly too narrow, you have the wrong drawers. There are a lot of comments in the reviews of people having this problem. Once we figured this out, We were able to return the drawers and get the correct sized drawers. It was frustrating, but the employee was friendly and helpful.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Slim Very serviceable but not furniture grade
I've been a homeowner and HD customer for 35 years so I'm pretty handy with tools. If you assembled some IKEA or other cam and post furniture this product line instructions will be familiar. Assembly is time consuming but the only tricky part is squaring up the cabinet before you attach the back. We found it helpful to have a second person hold the cabinet square after checking it with the rafter square. The cardboard (yes cardboard) back piece is delivered folded so be advised that if you look hard enough you will see a fold crease in the middle of the back when assembled. If the back is behind a drawer or if you fill the shelves with paraphernalia or clothing you will not see the crease. A nice touch is that the back comes with tiny indentations to show you the proper spacing for the attachments. For this to work properly you must correctly orient the top of the backpiece to the top of the cabinet.. The back piece is marked "Top" but it is very faint and easily missed.
The hardest part of installation is determining where to attach the wall bracket that should be stud mounted and then cutting away the cardboard back panel to attach it to the cabinet. There's a bit of voodoo involved but I won't go into it here. I suppose you could skip mounting the bracket to the studs but as one that has survived several earthquakes, I can't say I would advise it.
Big disappoint from a cosmetic standpoint is that the melamine front edging on the cabinet and shelves is prone to minute chipping. It doesn't seem as thick as the white melamine Closet Maid closet I put together in '94. There were minute chips when the units were unpacked even though the exterior packaging was intact. Sure we could have swapped but who wants to take 'em back and since this was for a rental apartment we were in "Git'er Done" mood.
As to value. The cabinets seem fairly priced for what they are but the drawers are $50/each. All tolled for an 8' closet we spent about $920. It looks OK now if you don't look too close but for my own home I'd move into a furniture grade system with wood veneer edging and pay a little more.

After doing a complete remodel of our closest space, I wanted my girlfriend to have a great way to hang all of her clothes and a much better place for all of her shoes, then those old spinning shoe thing. Well she has more then enough space now. She loves just how easy it all went together, well after the remodel of course!
Just want to say how much we love our new closets. I was a bit skeptical about spending this much money. Then having to buy a few of the items online sight unseen but we have to say, this closet set has more than excited my expectations . Great quality in materials and craftsmanship, amazingly easy installation, outstanding website and online design features. ( Closet maid website) Our master bedroom closet looks and functions great, and its amazing at how much useable space we got out of our closest. (so much better than just a single hanging rod). Thank you for a great product.
