Answer:
Yes, it can be cut to any length you wish. If you can use heavy gauge wire cutters, that might be the way to go. You may also use a metal cutting saw, so as not to leave any sharp ends,
Good luck!

Answer:
Definitely! That's the beauty of ClosetMaid wire shelving - it can be fit lengthwise to your space. You may cut it yourself with a basic hacksaw, but even better, your local Home Depot store will cut it for you provided you have exact measurements. We offer the shelves in a variety of lengths already, so choose the one closest to the length you need.

If you're going to use the washer head screws that Home Depot recommends, you'll need a star drive bit for driving the screws into the wall using an electric drill. The washer head screws are 2 1/2 inches to 3 inches long so an electric drill is essential. These are not Torx drive, square drive, slotted or Phillips screws and none of those drive bits will work in the star drive. Read Less

I'm sorry that your closet fell down! That's not a pleasant situation.
When installing the hardware to keep the closet up ( I used Model # 15418) make SURE you are screwing the hardware into a STUD in the wall.
I hope this helps!

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product last year when it was half the price I used this system in my garage last year and it is holding up really well with heavy stuff on it. However the price in Oct 2015 for this exact sku 73571 was $21.97 (I'm looking at the old printout). Now it's $50 + ??!! September 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality Very strong construction. Good quality. Made my garage more organized. December 8, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best shelving product out there! I've only lived in two houses in my adult life. I bought an Elfa shelving system for my home I owned and it was very nice, but also expensive too. I bought this Closetmaid system and was just as satisfied and spent less too when I redid my other closets in the house. When I moved and rented a house, I also made sure to redo the closets with Closetmaid's shelving product. When I return to being a homeowner soon, i will certainly outfit my house with Closetmaid shelving in the future. September 30, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by First rate wire shelving This is the second time I've purchased this product from Home Depot and I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again. The quality is good, it's well designed and well made. The shelves have adequate capacity for the materials I intend to store on it and it's attractively painted with a thick coating. I like the fact that it comes in two widths so that I have the option of different sizes for different applications. It's not difficult to install but I'd recommend some planning before purchase to determine exactly where the header (horizontal support bar) and standards (vertical supports) will be placed. If you're going to put heavy materials on the shelves, you'll need to provide adequate support by screwing into studs for the headers and standards. This stuff is too heavy to rely on plastic anchors in dry wall to hold it once you put any weight on the shelves. December 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by great shelf, but the color description is misleading The shelf works well and is strong as described, but including the word "chrome" in the color description is misleading because it is vinyl covered and is not "chrome". Other closetmaid shelves describe the color as "nickel", but they do not have a nickel finish, but a vinyl finish. September 16, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed We were kind of bummed to find that we installed the brackets to go with these 32in apart to begin with (every other stud in our garage) and it started sagging when we put totes on them. We had to buy more of the heavy duty bracket things and we installed them every 16in. It seems to work well, but I highly doubt it would hold 600 pounds! I wouldn't even let my 200 pound husband lay on it to test them. - We wish the shelves didn't sag, now we just added about $500 more to our garage project! March 17, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Used for 3 foot wide pantry closet. These shelves did a much better job of holding the heavier load. I got the shelves designed to hold less at the first, but they sagged somewhat with the load on them. Still, even with the short 3 foot width, I wanted to make sure there would be no problems later on, so I put an angle brace to shore up the middle of the shelves and am quite satisfied with the results. I guess I could have shored up the other shelves that way also, but I have another place to use them with a lighter load now. November 8, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product! We were able to use this product in an unused space. Now we are able to have a useful space once again. June 17, 2014
