Customer Questions & Answers

What if there is a stud where one of the brackets has to go?

Asked by: Diyish
Hello Diyish, I’m Chris from the Home Depot’s how-to Community. Thank you for your question. Even better, then simply use either the nails provided, slightly longer ones, or screws to secure the brackets. This will be stronger than if just using the wall anchors. I hope this helps, Chris. .

how do I remove these nails to re position my shelf?

I bought a condo with existing shelves. I want to move them but I am not certain how to remove the mails since they do not screw in.
Asked by: mimi
They will have to be ripped out of the wall with the tool of your choice. Once you patch up the holes you can then reposition your shelf. Do not reinstall them on the same place where you patched up the holes as that part of the wall will be weaker now unless you are on a stud.

why is the gap in the closetmaid wall bracket (26620) too deep for the wire shelf to fit into?

Asked by: Anonymous
The brackets you have attached are for our standard shelving. The shelf attached is Maximum load shelving. Maximum load shelving (given the weight it supports) is designed to used in a shelftrack installtion rather than with wall brackets. The brackets will work (given that the weight is actually supported by the top), but will not perform to the levels referenced in a shelftrack installation. The wall brackets are also not color matched to the color (grey) of the Maximum load shelf. Thank you for your inquiry. to achieve wight rating, need shelftrack installation

The wall bracket and nails ca,e out of the wall, I tried to nail it back in but it came out again, what can be done to have it stay in the wall?

Asked by: Bnm
The nails must not be engaging the anchors. If your wall is too thick you may need longer wall anchors.

I have ClosetMaid 26620 wall brackets but have lost the anchors. Can anchors be purchased separately.

Asked by: Buckets
We do not sell the anchors for this wall bracket separately but you can contact our ClosetMaid customer service and they can provide you replacement parts. Closetmaid Customer Service 1-800-874-0008.

Is the max weight rating of 10 lbs for each individual bracket or for the pair since 2 brackets are needed for each side of the front of the shelf?

Asked by: scttl123
The recommended 10 lbs. is for the pair of brackets when properly installed.

will these brackets hold the 72" x 12 " closetmaid superslide ventilated shelves

Model # 26620 Store SKU #489631 we will be placing plastic bins on these in our closet at school
Asked by: Anonymous
These are the correct wall brackets, but are not the only support you need for maximum effect. We are wondering if you need the Superslide function -- meaning clothes hangers will slide with no interruption? If not, please take a look at our Maximum Load shelving and brackets, which still require the vertical wall brackets. These shelves contain additional support wires running the length of the shelf and would be great for a school storage closet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed with anchors and pins Installed exactly like directions said and after a few weeks the pins started pulling out of the anchors. Once the pins pulled out the brackets were very loose and the shelf sagged. After about 2 months of pushing the pins back in I finally went to Home Depot and bought new metal anchors with screws. Once I pulled out all the old anchors and installed the new metal ones with screws, I haven't had a problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Brackets themselves are okay, but use your own anchors and screws Poorly designed. The holes are too big to keep the supplied pins from punching through the holes (the support brackets for the superslide bar don't have this problem). Hard to drive the pins flush because of the depth of the recessed areas around the holes relative to the thickness of the pin heads. The drywall anchors don't hold much weight because they are too short and too smooth to properly grip inside the drywall. The brackets themselves have an odd horseshoe shape in that the opening is more narrow than the rest of the bracket, so you must be precise when locating the brackets.
