The little wrench needed to screw in the screws in included. No tools necessary except maybe something to pound in the wood rods to connect 2 shelves together.

Answer:
I would say that you can stack these several high with no problem, as long as you brace them to the wall. Mine is stacked 2 high with another 2 2-drawer units on top of that with no problem. That's roughly 5 foot high total, and I plan on putting a couple more of these on there.

Answer:
I would NOT recommend stacking these. Consider buying a shelf the size you need to avoid this problem. Better yet, locate STACKABLE shelves. Home Depot sells them.

I have stacked 4, but you could keep going. Just make sure you anchor it to a wall.

I stacked 1 on top of the other using them for shoes. I think it would depend on what you would be using them for. Each unit comes with a plastic "L" bracket for anchoring to the wall. Hope this helps.

I guess you could add drawers if you added drawer glides to it. I have found plastic baskets at Dollar Tree that fit perfectly in them.

Answer:
17 lbs. , 4 oz. is the maximum, providing the items are made of a light material. For example, 17-4 of clothes are fine but 17-4 of cookware is not.
You would NOT want this fine piece of furniture to fall off the wall and injure Aunt Madge at the Thanksgiving get together.

Probably 25lbs would be ok for long term. A 50lb child has stood on them before, but I think it would warp eventually at that weight.

They are easy to put together (4 screws) and the ones I bought last week match the ones I bought 2 years ago, 4 years ago, and 6 years ago. I have painted built-in cabinets in my closet, and I have these right next to them and they blend perfectly with the built ins. I do wish they were an inch or so higher to make it more adaptable for high heels.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy shoe shelf This is a good, sturdy shoe shelf that works great with the other ClosetMaid stackable items we purchased for our teen's closet. I do wish they would make the shelves with a little more space between them for storing high heels - anything over a few inch heel often doesn't fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stackable units. I purchased two of these. They stack good and sturdy. I even have a couple of 2-drawer units stacked on top of them. I like to store my shoes in the boxes they come in and even these boxes fit well on the shelves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This product worked perfectly... This product worked perfectly for organizing my shoes in two different closets. Sturdy enough with two units stacked to hold different types of shoes without tipping over or bowing.
