The two 4 ft. - 6 ft. closet organizer kits had everything I needed to upgrade and organize my daughter's closet. The material is heavy duty and high quality, the directions were easy to follow, and along with the videos on HomeDepot.com, I was able to complete the job with no miscues. When I did have questions, the representatives at my local Home Depot were knowledgeable and happy to help. The shelves, baskets, and hanging rods provided an incredible amount of storage. Thanks ClosetMaid and Home Depot.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by PaulaB Simple, easy, doubled useful capacity in a couple hours!
Our closet is an odd size, and was poorly fitted out to begin with. It is only 22 inches deep, but 78 inches wide. It has a 36 inch wide framed doorway, with 12 inches blind space on the right, and the rest on the left. I purchased the 4 to 6 foot ClosetMaid organizer, because the extra 6 inches I might obtain from a wider one was not worth the effort to cut a wider one down to fit a 6 1/2 foot space, especially since much of it is really hard to reach. I used the configuration shown on the box, with 36 inches of double hang space and the balance tall single hang, but I reversed the locations, placing the double hang on the right, where only 12 inches of it is behind the wall, and placed the tall hang area on the left. All of that is somewhat obstructed, but we wear our long coats and I my longer dresses and skirts less frequently, so it will be fine. Our closet is very tall, I placed the top hang rails at 86 inches. And my longest skirts, on wooden hangers with skirt clips along the bottom of them still would touch the floor. On the lower rod. I will look for nice wood hangers that will hold the skirts higher in the hanger than my present ones. (I'm a stickler for matching nice hangers in my closet!)
I appreciated greatly that the instruction documents were accessible online at Home Depot website before purchasing, it helped me make my decision on the product. Before I became aware of the 4 to 6 foot option, I'd looked at the 7 - 10 thinking to cut it down, but then started shopping piece parts to customize something. When that tallied up to over $350 for one closet in a rented apartment, I renewed my search for packaged organizers and found the 4 - 6 foot version.
Our old closet fittings were really rough - just a shelf at eye level the entire length of the closet, and below it, a single iron rod. The long coats dragged on the floor, the shelf had so much room above that it was tempting to pile avalanche-worthy stacks of stuff up there. I removed the shelf and rod and gave a quick and dirty paint job (whoever built this closet never even painted all the wallboard in the closet, just slapped paint on some of it).
The directions make sense as far as how the product goes together. Snags I ran into include the instructions for installing the shelf track hang rail at the top of the product. It recommends drilling 3/8 inch holes for the toggle bolts going into drywall. But the toggle bolts won't fit through a hole that size. Research online indicated that 1/2 inch holes fit that size. The directions also said not to drill any pilot hole for the screws going into wall studs. Big, big mistake. Even with soaping the screw threads and carefully choosing the best fit of screw bit for the electric screw driver, I had a very hard time with this, ultimately backing out the screw when neither I nor my husband could get the last inch of threads screwed down, and we ended up drilling very skinny pilot holes. Instant success after that.
One area of the instructions that I thought was going to be an annoying problem but wasn't is the section where, after installing shelves, etc., the instructions ask you to place screws and anchors to secure the vertical supports. It appears you'll have to assemble the whole thing to be sure you have those verticals the right distance apart and then need to take the shelves all off to secure them. The instructions show "shelf removed for clarity", which led me to think it needed to come off. It doesn't! Assemble the highest shelf on each section, finagle the distance between verticals, as needed in this process to meet the specs for safety, as detailed in the instructions. Leave that top shelf on, use a level to be sure the verticals are actually vertical, and mark the hole location. Swing the vertical aside an inch (the upper shelf will not fall off!) drill, place the anchor, swing it back over and drive in the screw. Easy peasy, done!
Overall, this project was a success. It took me a long time, mostly because of the need to paint the closet and wait until it was dry. And for the time figuring out what do with the anchor bolts that wouldn't go through the holes and the screws that wouldn't drive into the studs on the first attempt. If I were to go install another one right now, I could do it in an hour or less, (not counting the demo and the painting). Yes, I'd buy this again, if I had another closet to do!

I thought I was getting 12ft of rod and 12ft of shelf. When I got to the store the box actually states 10ft of rod and 10ft of shelf. The attendant tried to explain that the way you can configure the system could equal 12ft. Not sure, but Im fairly confident that 10ft of rod can never amount to 12ft of hanging space.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Psalm19 EASY TO INSTALL AND A REAL SPACE SAVER
I was initially trying to configure everything I would need for a six-foot wide space and then I saw this kit. It had everything I needed and ended up being about half the price compared with buying everything separately. The kit included all the hardware regardless what kind of wall material you were installing it on. The instructions were fairly easy to follow. My only real complaints were that I had to drill a couple of extra holes because none of their holes lined up with any wall studs and I wanted at least a couple of the screws anchored into wood. All in all, it seems sturdier than I originally thought it would be.

The ClosetMaid Storage Shelving product provides great flexibility with installation and design options. The Shelftrack Organizer Kit is a very sturdy and durable product made in the USA.
The shelving system is extremely simple and straight forward to install with basic skills using a drill and leveler. I highly recommend this product to everyone to improve organization and storage space. Cleaning out and organizing all your stuff is harder than the installation of the shelving system.
