The shelf hanger has pairs of slots for the brackets.
The regular shelf brackets have 2 hooks to fit into shelf hangers.
The picture of the shoe shelf brackets is not clear - is it a single hook or a double?

For white, it states that it's a 2-pack. For nickel, the picture shows 2, but the text doesn't state that it's a 2 pack. I'm interested in the nickel.

My horizontal space is limited to 23.5" (from outside of one wall standard to the outside of the other wall standard). I have a total vertical span of 84 inches.

Answer:
All shelves should be supported at least every two feet, but less is fine. For the shoe brackets, make sure the standards are in even inches apart from each other or the wire won't align with the bracket.

Rated 3.3 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great idea but no strength I got these when the store was out of 12" brackets. They are a creative idea but the design makes them to week for use with standards set more than 12 inches apart. In my case the standards were only 12 inches apart for these brackets, the shelf was still flimsy when holding hiking boots. If regular brackets were used that close together a heavy tool box could be held. Seems the savings on the shoe bracket is offset by the cost of buying more standards. I think I will go with the flexibility of the regular bracket and use a 16" distance for the standards to keep the cost in line. Returning the items and picking up 12" standard brakets August 23, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Serves the purpose Good product, serves the purpose, but I wish it would be longer (fit to the length of rack) for better support. July 19, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Shelf constantly falls off these brackets I redid my closet with this system a few years ago, so I've had a few shoe shelves with these brackets for several years. The shelfs supported by these brackets constantly fall off with even a small nudge. None of the other "regular" shelves have that problem. I've been unable to fix this despite trying dozens of times to set the shelves better in the brackets. There is a serious design flaw here which looks like it has never been fixed. February 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by As advertised Work well, easy to install. Wonder why this color needs to be more expensive than white... December 29, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Watch spacing with standards You need to have your standards apart in even inches or the wire won't line up with the brackets. Instruction don't tell you that February 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Okay for smaller feet I bought these and the 16" shelf because I have large shoes. These are too small for the wider shelf. If you have smaller feet and get the 12' shelf this set up would be prefect. I just bought the straight 16" bracket and now it is very sturdy. January 13, 2015
