I am installing 16" shelf and bought 16" brackets, but should I use 12" brackets

This is the note in the Installation Instructions: 5. Attaching brackets Attach brackets at desired shelf height. Note: Always match bracket size to shelving depth except when using Shelf & Rod shelving. Always use 12 in. brackets for this type of shelving. When installing 16 in. SuperSlide® with Closet Rod & Support always use 12 in. brackets
Asked by: OldGuy
No, you should use a bracket that matches the depth of the shelf. As noted you should only opt for a shorter bracket when installing a different type shelving utilizing a closet rod for additional support.

How much weight can these shelves hold assuming brackets are placed every 2 feet?

Asked by: Person
With brackets placed at 2ft intervals, this shelving can easily hold up to 50 lbs if the weight is evenly distributed. Any more and you're risking metal fatigue of the supporting structure.

Can I install this shelf in a nook that is 16.5" deep using the ShelfTrack system or is the total distance 17" (16" for the shelf + 1" for the standard)?
Asked by: Stephanie
The front mounting brackets extend 1/4" beyond the front edge of 16" Shelf. The rear mounting clips don't take up any front-to-back space, the shelf drops straight down into them being flush to the back of the closet. In my opinion, you would need 16.25" minimum, so 16.5" should work. I say "should" because you will have a hard time getting drilling the mounting hole, and also hammering in the provided nail with only 1/4" to 1/2" clearance. This you would need to decide. Hey, you can always return it to Home Depot if it doesn't work... I think a 12" deep shelf is also available?

Our Service Manager here at MOONLITE MAINTENANCE in Prescott, AZ has informed us that this 6 ft. wire shelf is fairly sturdy and easy to install. Once the vertical rails (2 or 3 for stability) have been anchored to studs in the wall, the brackets and shelving simply snap in place. The shelf is vinyl covered and provides plenty of support to store many lightweight items.

Product was easy to install with the proper brackets and holds up a lot of weight. Only slight trouble I had was with my saw trimming the shelf to the closet as it would vibrate with the saw if you didn't hold onto it tight.
