how does the blade close? I can find no way to get it closed - was bought with blade open at Home Depot.
Asked by: Nance
There is a locking mechanism inside the handle portion that lock the blade i at the pivot. Push his part towards the handle of the knife and the blade can fold in.

Customer Reviews

DX340 Double Lock Folding Knife is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Knife, Great Value This knife has a nice balanced feel, with the center of weight right over the forefinger and liner lock recess. The blade stays safely locked inside the handle thanks to a small dimple and protrusion on the blade and liner lock respectively. It is also easy to open and close with one hand, but it has a very secure locked feeling. There is very little side to side slop with the blade fully rotated and the liner lock engaged. The secondary lock on the top of the handle rotates a plate around into the way of the main liner lock so you cannot accidentally disengage the liner lock and cause the blade to fold up on your hand. The secondary lock also uses a dimple to positively keep it in the locked or unlocked position, however the feature seems to easily loosen as the protrusion ball is mounted on a set screw that is accessible from the outside of the handle. The only reason the quality gets 4 out of 5 is because the blade could have been sharper upon opening the package and the secondary lock dimple/protrusion feature needs to have some thread-locking device or feature applied. All in all, this is an exceptional value for a $10 knife that feels like it should be much more expensive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value, quality knife Very sharp out of the bubble pack. Intuitive opening with the thumb studs, but also flicks open instantly without touching the studs. I might take them off for a more streamlined profile. Aluminum handle has great grip, thumb lock is perfectly situated and easy to use automatically. Looks cool, works great, costs less than one lunch. What's not to love? I plan on ordering several to stash in bags and vehicles. Also, since this knife is so good, I will check out another Coast offering: the FX412, and possibly an economical Coast flashlight or two. Thanks, Erik Wells

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Knife at Great price As a professional firefighter / EMT I am always cutting ropes, belts, seat belts, and cables. This knife has been up to the challenge and has been easy to sharpen. Plus, at this price I don't stress about using it all the time. I keep one on standby just in case. But so far one has done the job and done it well!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from For the price this is a very good knife. I always carry a pocket knife. I lost Avery expensive knife and I saw this one. I thought that I would buy this one to carry until I was able to replace my other knife. After using this one for a few days I decided that it is every bit as good as my other knife.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value knife for price Bought this knife for my son for Christmas. Knife is sturdy and is a good pocket knife for him to use hiking. He really likes the knife. Knife must be sturdy to take what he puts them through, including leaving it out in the weather. No complaints.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good knife for the price. I like the size, weight, and feel of this knife. One complaint is since its not spring loaded, the knife opens partially when dropped, it doesn't 'lock' shut when closed. I do likeb the double lock feature when it is opened. The blade dulls easily but can be resharpened quickly. You cant really beat the price.
