Customer Questions & Answers

I have a Coast G30 Flashlight. How do I change batteries?

Any written material which may have come with the light is long since gone. I have tried everything I can see to change batteries but no luck. I hesitate to put tools or wrenches on it.
Asked by: Capnjak
Pull out the cartridge from flashlight and pull out the batteries by using your fingernails either from the top or bottom of battery and pull toward you. Put back the same way.

Can I use this flashlight under salt water?

Asked by: pat
Hello Pat- This light can not be used under salt water. We do offer a number of waterproof flashlights that can be used in those conditions though.

Customer Reviews

G50 Focusing LED Flashlight is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good light.....untill you drop it This is one of several Coast lights I own, up until now I have been pleased with them, you can tell they are not an average cheap flashlight and some though went in to the design and build process. However with this particular model of flashlight there must be some fragile components because I have dropped two in a similar way, from small heights of about a meter or so, on a wood floor, and both lights just stopped working immediately after. Very strange that it only took a small drop to kill the light completely. I have dropped many flashlights in the past before and own lights that have seen much more abuse, but never actually have I had a light just stop working completely because of a simple drop on the floor. I was very surprised and extremely disappointing with this, especially since I was impressed with the Coast brad so far. I think this time I will just ask for my money back and opt for something else. Another thing about this light is that it feels a bit awkward in the hand compared to other flashlights, the head is a bit top heavy because of the rotating flared bit for the beam focus, which I must say is a great feature that I did enjoy using due to the wide angle focusing ability which can be used as a "flood light". That was primarily why I would carry this light around. But the light is shorter and may feel awkward to some people cause you don't feel a firm grip on it (maybe that's why I dropped mine) and the head rotates a bt and can slip as you hold it. It's not exactly a cheap light for the price, and it's a bit of a bummer that they don't give you a belt holder with it which is always nice. Some of the other Coast lights do come with a nice quality belt holster. I personally think it's the best way to carry a light, and it's a huge bonus and pleasure when they include a good quality holster specifically designed for the particular model of light. But they do give you a decent quality wrist lanyard which I also enjoy and often use, (not in the case of when I dropped it obviously! maybe that's why they give you the lanyard) Another con is that you cannot seam to dissemble the light in any way other than taking off the rear battery cap, so I could not exactly get it open to see if I could determine anything physically broken on the LED board, or a broken connection. It seems as though you would need to clam it down with a vice or something which would possibly damage the light beyond any other use and definitely scratch and mark it up. Although I am extremely curious to take it to bits to determine exactly what killed it, and possibly repair it, I think I will opt for my money back instead. This experience has made me a bit more nervous with my other Coast lights. I now keep them just for use around the house, and have replaced my more critical flashlights like my personally one I carry, keep in the car etc... with higher quality ones that I have had for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from its a great product I really enjoy this product, which I have known of this before spending money on other weak products. I would only ask, that a holster would be available, and touch and see. Meaning a local vendor were I can go in and use them, before purchasing. This way I can buy even more.
