What happens if you install a 3.6V Lithium battery in the Coast HP17 flashlight? It doesn't appear to be fool-proof.

Easy answer. Install lithium ion from 18650s to 26650s and 32650s and your emitter goes POOF! Likely frying much of the electronics as well. Energizer Alkaline D cells or NiMH D's only. Answer:
We do not recommend using any type of lithium batteries in any of our lights. They are designed and tested for use with alkaline batteries but NiMH rechargeables are fine as well.

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Failed after a week, going to try an exchange. After a week of use the light started flickering and every time I would bump or shake it the light would go out. Exchanging it for another, I have otherwise had excellent luck with Coast lights!! October 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome light! Purchased three of these, sight unseen, and I am not disappointed! The full power setting is so bright, they have warning labels "do not look directly at light" and they mean it. I accidentally turned it on in full power and saw "spots" for 30 minutes! Fantastic quick focus ! Rugged body. You can't go wrong with this light if you want to either see in the darkest of night or be seen to save your life! May 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CoastP17 LEDFlashlight So bright it's almost scarey. Makes my same size Maglite look dim. Fast focus great. This is the type of flashlight that you could pass on after you're gone. My search for the ultimate flashlight is over. November 29, 2010
