Lets just get this out of the way, this is a big and incredibly bright flashlight. If you're looking for something small and packable, look elsewhere. If you want a solid and crazy bright light, this is your flashlight. My single gripe: I wish the adjustment going from 'spot' to 'flood' was a bit more precise. I would have preferred a twisting action to perform this task and not just moving the head forward and back. This light will have a place in my car on outdoor adventures and trips to our cabin. It's perhaps a bit too big to be an everyday utility type light, regardless it's still the brightest flashlight i've ever seen and I'm happy to have one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dcmikez amazingly powerful flashlight
This is an amazing flashlight. It comes in a large carrying case with a shoulder strap, and batteries. It's very bright and much lighter than what a 4d Mag was like back in the day.
The light is designed to shine up to 1/2 a mile away, living in the city I can't test that out without raising eyebrows, but I'm positive it would hold up to that task.
I've owned several Coast flashlights and have never been disappointed with their quality. This one lives up to their high standards.
This light would be great to illuminate anything a decent distance away, great for rescue or security work.
Not a flashlight for an average consumer, it's way more than what you would need.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JohnS Very bright and powerful.
This flashlight is well-equipped. It has a case, belt loop, shoulder strap, and rubber protectors. And all these items fit in the carry case, with zippers and carry handles.
The flashlight itself is extremely bright, shines a long distance, and is fully adjustable from wide to narrow beam. See photos.
If you need a large, bright flashlight, this is it. It is the brightest flashlight I have ever seen. Very well built.
But it is also large and heavy, so if you are going to be using it a lot, then use the shoulder strap to carry it.
The only downside is that the flashlight does not fit into the case very well when you have added the accessories, like the rubber protectors, shoulder strap, etc. I had to remove those items to get the flashlight to fit back into the case. I wish the case would hold it with all the accessories attached.

This Flashlight has to be one of the best flashlights I have ever owned. I could not believe how bright the single LED is. We took it out over the weekend and played with it in the Utah mountains and it worked far better than I could have hoped for.
The flashlight is BIG. or at least bigger than I thought it was going to be. It comes with a padded case, that's right a padded case, with some accessories. Included is 2 protective rubber trim pieces for both ends of the light as well as a 2 rings to use a shoulder strap, yeah it's that big.
there is a single LED that is powered by 4 D batteries. there is also a rather large magnifier inside the light that helps add to the intensity of the brightness. You can adjust the light to be a wider arc, or a concentrated point by simply moving the adjustable lens forwards or back.
This thing is worth every penny. It's a good light to have in an emergency situation or even for just camping.

First of all, when I picked up the box, it was much heavier than I had expected it to be. Then, when I opened the box containing the Coast Long Range Focusing 1132 Lumen LED Flashlight, I found an incredibly sturdy, durable carry case containing the flashlight and the accessories it came with. Great!
The flashlight is quick big, and is sturdy. I mean, it is STURDY. Once you put the 4 required D batteries into it, the thing feels more like a weapon -- a nightstick that also lights up, perhaps -- than a traditional flashlight. That being said ...
Wow is it bright! When on the high and flood settings, the thing will light up a sphere of darkness in front of you that's easily 40 feet wide (no surprise, given that the high setting output is 1,132 lumens). When on the high and spot settings, however, the thing will light up a swath of darkness at more than 200 feet away (the box advertises a beam distance of 2,240 feet). Seriously, I could see the doorknob on my neighbor's house across the street during the middle of the night (I probably woke 'em up during the test, tho). According to the instruction book, though, the batteries will only last 4.25 hours when set to high.
On the low setting, the box states that you can get 192 hours of battery time with a beam distance of up to 606 feet. At 95 lumens, it's still plenty bright for normal uses.
The strobe is intensely disorienting, so be very careful not to shine that at anyone who's affected by strobe lights. If I were a cop looking to disorient a suspect, the strobe setting would be perfect. Other than that, though, I have NO IDEA why or when the strobe setting would be useful.
This flashlight is more than a little expensive, so it is certainly not for everyone, and really shouldn't be considered for everyday use; however, if you're looking for a police- or military-grade flashlight that can double as a weapon if need be, or if you need an ultra-bright light to use for your job, you really can't do any better than this flashlight.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by daveb714 This is an incredibly bright flashlight!!
When I ordered this flashlight I don't think I realized this is more than your average flashlight. The flashlight comes in a zippered case with foam cutouts for the flashlight and its accessories. It comes with the required "D" cell batteries along with a carrying strap and a belt loop to carry the flashlight. This is a big flashlight and once the batteries are in, it's quite heavy so if you had to carry it around, the strap or belt loop would come in handy.
The package for the flashlight says the beam will shine over 2000 feet and although I have no way to test it, I believe that claim. This flashlight has the brightest beam I have ever seen. You can also slide the lens portion of the flashlight to make the beam either a spotlight or floodlight type of beam. Either way, it's incredibly bright. There are three settings when you press the button: Bright, dimmer, and strobe. Even the dimmer setting is very effective. I'm not sure I would have much use for the strobe setting.
Although I haven't had it too long, it seems very sturdy and well made. I work at night and sometimes need to conduct searches. I am considering suggesting my employer purchase one or two of these flashlights to assist since they are so bright.
I would absolutely recommend this flashlight.

The Coast HP314 flashlight is literally a powerhouse. With proper settings it’s capable of lighting objects which are 10 blocks away. The item comes well packaged in a cushioned zippered carrying case which includes other accessories like shoulder straps, rubber pads and 4D Duracell batteries. The flashlight feels sturdy and durable. It is a bit heavy with the batteries inserted, so you may need shoulder straps when using for longer hours. There are three modes of operation first is full power (1132 lumens), second is strobe mode (1132 lumens) and third is eco mode or low lumen mode (95 lumens). The product claims to run 4 hours on full power before the batteries die, I have to still check on that, but given that it’s a LED source I don’t have any doubts on that. The lens can be adjusted by turning the head part to give a bright spot whenever you need to focused beam.
About the performance it’s pretty bright like I mentioned before, capable of lighting objects that are 10 blocks away. The strobe mode would surely give a person an epileptic seizure if he stares on the light directly. The eco mode is also sufficient for routine use and long term power outages. The batteries last about 192 hours on eco-mode according to the manufacturer. Apart from all this, the flashlight comes with a lifetime warranty from coast. Overall, I would highly recommend the product for those who are looking bright sturdy flashlight.

The Coast HP314 Flashlight is a masterpiece. I’m an electrical engineer and I’m still impressed with the amount of light this single LED produces. I hope this detailed review allows you to build a better understanding of what this light is all about.
This flashlight is huge. Let me say this again, huge. It measures just over 17 inches, and it extends by about an inch when you shift to spotlight mode. The light output this beast produces at full power is unbelievable. The product is also heavy, in a good way though. This light gave me big grins twice, first when I opened the case and saw its size, and second when I switched it ON for the first time. I'm not sure how someone would benefit from this light for home use, but in case of a power outage this can light up a large room as bright as ceiling lights! Its primary use would be in the outdoors such as camping or searching for your four legged family member. It can be as effective as a shotgun to scare away the guy trying to jump the fence into your backyard! I'm sure law enforcement and rescue professionals would appreciate such tool.
It comes with one push button switch that clicks. The operation is as follows: 1st click is full power mode (1132 lumens), 2nd click turns it off, 3rd click is strobe mode (1132 lumens), 4th click turns it off, 5th click is low power mode (95 lumens). This works as long as the clicks are consecutive; if you wait 5 seconds or longer the light resets the cycle. You can also operate the light but pressing the switch half way (before it clicks), and it will turn off when you release, if that makes sense.
To switch from floodlight mode to spotlight mode, you need to push the bezel (the bulky head of the light, for lack of a better word) to the front. This can be done using 1 finger of the hand used to hold the light. The bezel drives forward about an inch, and the beam gets smaller in a linear manner while you push. This means you can adjust the beam size per your preference.
The flood mode is really impressive. It throws a perfectly uniform circle (not a poor ring or doughnut shape). The beam is wider than I expected (i.e. the diameter of the circle is large) which is great since you can adjust the beam size to your liking by pushing the bezel forward. Keep in mind that as you reduce the beam size, the smaller circles are no longer perfectly uniform. The lens is engineered in such a way to provide perfection at the extremes. The light throws a 13ft diameter circle when held 11ft away from a wall. I was able to light an entire medium size tree standing 24ft away.
The Accu-Spot mode is equally impressive. This allows you to light up objects almost half a mile away. The circle is much smaller and obviously much brighter in this mode. I was able to light up objects a quarter mile away with no issues. You can even throw a strong beam straight into the sky.
The build and materials used are top quality. The product also comes with a lifetime warranty.
The package comes with a padded case, shoulder strap with 2 support rings, belt ring to hang the light from a belt, a rubber bezel ring for better grip & protection, and a rubber tail cover for added protection. Clear instructions are also provided, albeit on a very small sheet of paper. The product ships with 4 Duracell D size batteries.
I provided pictures and a video along with this review. Thumbs-up if you like!
Highly recommended product!
