It is a good idea, as with any product, to make sure it is actually working. A small multi-meter can be had for less than $10 dollars and a useful tool for all of your electrical needs at home. Now I have many solar panels but there was one that did not seem to be working and the output was low. Everything seems to have a warranty these days and The Home Depot is very kind about returns, exchanges and refunds. Buy the best solar panel you can afford and make sure it is working properly. The actual solar panel construction may vary from one manufacturer to another so a quick visual inspection will do. The smaller battery maintainers are usually well sealed but some of the larger charger types might need a little silicon sealer at the wiring entry points. Keep the solar panel clean for best results outdoors as dirt may build up on the screen over time blocking the sun's rays. If it sits in a deep puddle of water for a long time this might not be good for the unit. Aluminum frame units may corrode near salt water. Thanks for asking. Read Less

Answer:
Yes. Please note that running time will depend on the power rating of the bulb in relation to the power of the panel. For instance, a full day of charging with this panel may provide you between 1 and 2 hours of use for a 20W bulb.

6-Watt 12-Volt Solar Battery Maintainer is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3 foot power cord. The panel was just installed. So, I am not sure about its functionality. As far as the install went, the power cables were only 3' long. So I went to the website listed for accessories, and they wanted $20 to ship an extension cable. I did find one elsewhere, but really? $20 shipping for a cable that shouldn't have been necessary.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK solar panel I bought this solar panel to maintain the battery in my ATV. I keep the ATV in a shed, and planned to mount the panel on the shed roof. But the panel comes with a cord that is only 3 feet long! Unless I kept the ATV outside and mounted the solar panel directly to the ATV, I can't think of any way a 3 foot cord would be of any use to anyone. And, Home Depot doesn't sell longer cords; I had to order from the manufacturer.(for $20 for a 10 ft cord!) So, I down-rated the value, because of the extra cost for the cord. As far as quality goes, I have a real problem with rating something immediately after I buy it. Ask me in a year or two to see if it performs as advertised over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trickle charger This solar panel is used as my trickle charger to the battery on my Generac generator. It was packed well and shipped on time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple solar charging This solar panel came in a timely manner, was packaged well, and looked to be of good quality. I chose to mount it slightly off the surface of my shed roof, and the wire was plenty long to run inside to charge my mower battery during the winter months. I have already recommended it to three or four other people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Comparison Shopping Purchase I was apprehensive about buying a solar battery 'trickler/charger/maintainer'. I researched several other products, a few costing 3X as much as I paid for the one I bought at Home Depot. The reviews included "I get no reading on my voltmeter." and "Does this thing actually work?" I have trusted the Coleman Brand name for; Canoes, Air Mattresses, Lanterns, ice boxes and other outdoor goods, and at a great price why not this solar unit? When I got it I took it into the yard and hooked it up to a BMW M/C voltmeter. Facing the direct sun the meter registered 16 volts and corresponded with the needle depending on my angle to the sun. It has an overcharge guard built in. I'll be putting this on a sailboat w/ a Bluetop Optima Battery and expect a winning combination. Have already recommend it to friends. I trust a company who has a reputation to maintain - the Coleman name is right on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Put solar panel on my sailboat- it works great! I researched this product on the internet. Several companies market the exact same product, but Home deport had the best price and I did not have to pay for shipping! I have been checking my battery with a volt meter and this solar panel keeps my boat battery charged up and no problems.
Date published: 2012-11-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two connectors, and easy to use Only thing I will add is a 12volt LED for a visual sign it is working without having to use my volt meter. I knew this when I bought it.
