Product Overview

Take the convenience of two lights in one when you have the Coleman CPX 6 Duo LED Lantern. Together the lantern shines 175 ultra-bright lumens for up to 56 hours. During an emergency, pop one of the two lights off the base for a personal flashlight. They recharge once they're back on the base for hands-free light. CPX system compatibility lets you choose your power: four D cell batteries or one CPX 6 rechargeable power cartridge. LEDs last a lifetime, so they never need replacing and they run cool so the lantern is always safe to touch, even when it's been on for hours.

  • Use as one powerful lantern or two individual area lights
  • 56 hour run time on lantern and 2.5 hour run time on panels
  • Flexible power - operates as rechargeable or using disposable batteries (CPX 5 rechargeable power cartridge sold separately

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the lantern, but be warned about the battery. This lantern works really great, we used it last summer for a long weekend camping trip. It's extremely bright when fully docked, and even the individual pull-out panels are really bright. You won't want to stare into any of these parts or it will hurt. The handles are large, and can be used to string up the the pod or panels to a tree if you have string. Just make sure you securely latch the panels back to the pod when you're done, sometimes it doesn't click and the panel falls out and I wouldn't want anyone to break such a nice piece of equipment in the middle of the woods :-) We purchased the rechargeable battery for this lantern. Unfortunately, I (and many other reviewers online) learned the hard way that if you don't recharge the battery every few months it will drain out completely. I saw some reviewers say that even though the charge light reflects green giving the impression that it's full, the lantern still wouldn't light up, and they had issues getting a replacement battery from Coleman without having to produce a receipt. The same green light issue happened to me as I was getting ready for a sailing trip abroad. I plugged the battery into an outlet to charge and got the green light, but thought that was odd since it had been in storage for over a year. Well what do you know, but the people were right - my lantern wouldn't light up when I stuck the battery in. Not wanting to buy a wbole new battery, out of curiosity I decided to charge up the battery while it was installed in the lantern. Interestingly, the red light came on this time (instead of green when charging the battery outside of the lantern), and I let it charge for many hours....I'd guess at least 8 hours, not sure as I went to bed at the 8 hour mark. The next morning, the light was green and the lantern lit up normally. So my advice is if you encounter a completely dead battery, try charging it back up inside the lantern. That should fix it without having to buy a new one. Not sure why Coleman Customer Service didn't make this suggestion to all those unhappy customers, but let's hope my solution works for you!
