Very convenient. Great value with two chargers! Sure saves on all the D batteries I was using. Infrequently needs charging. I learned never to store a discharged battery! Good deal.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 1PreparedDude The perfect rechargeable battery pack!
The CPX 6 system using D cells and the rechargeable pack are the perfect solution to having your lanterns and lights always ready to go and run continuous for long periods of time. The ability to use multiple means of recharging sources and the quick recharge time are a great feature of the rechargeable battery pack.

This review is related to my purchase of the Coleman CPX6 Due LED Lantern.
We purchased the rechargeable battery for this lantern. Unfortunately, I (and many other reviewers online) learned the hard way that if you don't recharge the battery every few months it will drain out completely. I saw some reviewers say that even though the charge light reflects green giving the impression that it's full, the lantern still wouldn't light up, and they had issues getting a replacement battery from Coleman without having to produce a receipt. The same green light issue happened to me as I was getting ready for a sailing trip abroad. I plugged the battery into an outlet to charge and got the green light, but thought that was odd since it had been in storage for over a year. Well what do you know, but the people were right - my lantern wouldn't light up when I stuck the battery in. Not wanting to buy a wbole new battery, out of curiosity I decided to charge up the battery while it was installed in the lantern. Interestingly, the red light came on this time (instead of green when charging the battery outside of the lantern), and I let it charge for many hours....I'd guess at least 8 hours, not sure as I went to bed at the 8 hour mark. The next morning, the light was green and the lantern lit up normally.
So my advice is if you encounter a completely dead battery, try charging it back up inside whatever device you have. That should fix it without having to buy a new one, I think a lot of people didn't try this and had to buy new ones or gave up on Coleman completely. Not sure why Coleman Customer Service didn't make this suggestion to all those unhappy customers, but let's hope my solution works for you!
