The decorative veneers on this 1/2 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. PureBond Cherry Plywood Project Panel are plain-sliced from domestically harvested cherry trees, exhibiting the uniqueness and warmth of natural timber with hardwood grains running along the length of each panel for stunning visual allure. Precision-cut with finely honed edges, these petite panels are perfect for smaller cabinetry and woodworking projects or putting the finishing touches on larger furniture-building jobs. The soy-based PureBond technology is strong and water-resistant, able to tolerate moisture and humidity better than plywood assembled with formaldehyde-based solutions. Additionally, the 5-ply panel is cost-competitive with UF-constructed plywood and will not expose indoor environs to toxic fumes, further preserving interior spaces and promoting healthy living and working conditions. Expand your DIY exploits with this cherry hardwood plywood to create a myriad of exquisite carpentry pieces, including footstools, benches, cabinets, shelves, end tables, pet food centers, serving trays and more.

Answer:
Hello,
I would recommend the ¾” panel for a table top. Just know the Cherry veneer is thin – 1/50” thick. You will need to finish with a quality/durable finish.

Answer:
Hello,
The Cherry layer on the plywood is thin - 1/50” thick. Would not recommend the item for use as a cutting board. Intended application is for cabinets, built-ins, etc. Thank you for the interest in our product.

Answer:
Hello,
Just a light sand is all that is required before applying your finish. The panel will not have any coating on it that requires stripping.

Answer:
Hello,
The images of the four colors are an example of what the cherry will look like with different colors applied by the customer. The colors are not something that you could choose.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 44 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Consistent, Reliable Quality! I've always been extremely satisfied and happy with the plywood panels I've purchased from Home Depot. The Columbia Forest Products plywood is the best quality I've seen. It's solid, knot free, straight, no warping, no de-laminating, and looks good on both sides. I've tried over and over to take the easy way out, and attempt every so often to see if I could find good plywood panels within the stores, but always come away empty handed. Ordering the plywood is as easy as could be. Every time I placed an order, the panels arrived within a few days. Well worth the time and cost. Highly Recommended. June 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smooth! Super convenient! These quarter-sheet sizes are MUCH easier to handle and store. It is rare that I need full sized plywood panels for most of my small shop projects. so carrying, transporting and cutting-down full sheets is a nuisance. It's also hard on my aging back. That's why I love these small sheets. An overlooked advantage to small sheets is how much easier they are to store AND how they are less likely to warp during storage. Sure, you could build a perfect lumber rack that is perfectly level and never sags... sure you can. But, if you don't have enough real estate, budget or time for such an engineering challenge, these are another solution. Unlike large heavy sheets, these are very rigid compared to their cross-section, so they are far less likely to warp. That means I can just get one out, mark it, cut it, glue it, finish it, and I'm done. GONE are the numerous hassles of holding wobbly cumbersome awkward full sheets! DASHED are the multiple joinery problems of poorly cut joints in sagging lumber! And since I can handle these alone easily, I am far less likely to bang an edge or ruin a joint! Quality? It's exactly the same as large sheets. Very good. Few voids. Nice veneer. Takes finish well. Holds screws well. Cost? Initially, it is more expensive than buying whole sheets. But I recoup some of that because i WASTE LESS. It does me no good to save money buying in bulk when I end up wrecking an edge, miss-cutting a joint because of warpage, or damage a surface because the big thing was too much to carry. This is a convenience product. Convenience comes at a price, but then some of that is a wash when you consider all the factors. I've gotten more jobs done because I didn't procrastinate. Maybe you are like me and tend to put off big projects. Having these convenient panels around the shop makes my DIY projects easier and more fun, so I start sooner and get more done. Just get some and keep 'em handy. When you need to make a crosscut-sled, a jig, a small saw guide, a bench appliance, a drawer, custom tool box or clamping caul, you'll be ready and get 'er done fast. No extra trips to the store. No manhandling bulky 4x8 sheets. No cussing 'cause you ruined good wood when it slipped in your truck bed or you dropped it on your foot. I figure these have saved me enough in gas and time alone that the small extra cost has come back to me several times over. May 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent plywood; was perfect for my Shaker Boxes! I steam bent some cherry wood and made Shaker Oval Boxes for Christmas. I needed the tops and bottoms to be cherry plywood. Solid cherry for this purpose could result in wood movement and possibly crack the bent cherry used for the sides of the boxes.. This plywood had no voids between the plys and no blemishes on either side of the plywood, unlike some plywood I have bought in the past. The top and bottom plys were thick enough allowing sufficient sanding without fear of sanding through the layers. November 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful cherry veneers Both sides of the cherry veneers on this 3/4" plywood are really gorgeous. It has 7 plies: 5 thick popular veneers inside (see my photo) and 2 beautiful cherry veneers. The box arrived with the plywood sandwiched in between two sheets of corrugated cardboard, inside a large, rigid box, so the corners were totally intact. The ply between the veneers is not the firmest material, but this shouldn't matter if you're just making through cuts in the plywood. This was strong enough to use for cabinet boxes for a small dresser, and I got the 1/4" cherry plywood to use for flat panels on false drawer fronts - they were a perfect match. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great looking piece of wood Very good product blemish free and took stain in an excellent fashion. Purebond uses a formaldehyde free glue for assembly for you that are cautious in this area, I am. You may have a limited selection and or supply at your favorite shopping spot. If so check their service desk and they can give you a list of wood choice and sizes available. Almost any supply store offer free shipping over $50.00 August 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is Pretty Plywood! The 1/4" 2' X 4' Cherry Plywood is a great product. The grain could not be prettier or more uniform, and there is a real natural look to the Cherry. Yes, the plywood is one sided, but the back side of the piece I received was not that bad. The back side of the plywood I received consisted of three uniformly joined straight veneer pieces. I'd have no problem using this sheet of plywood for a cabinet door panel. I did examine the edges of the plywood very carefully and could find no signs of splintering. Nice. Packaging was thorough and protected the plywood well during shipment. The box was made from heavier cardboard and the plywood was additionally protected by two panel sized cardboard liners. I am impressed with this plywood and would have no problem recommending purchase to a friend. July 24, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice cherry veneers The cherry veneers on this 1/4" plywood are really pretty, on both sides. One side has straighter, tighter grain than the other (at least on the piece sent to me). The box arrived with the plywood sandwiched in between two sheets of corrugated cardboard, inside a large, rigid box, so the corners and edges were totally intact. The ply between the veneers is not the firmest material, but this shouldn't matter if you're just making through cuts in the plywood. This plywood in 1/4" thickness is ideal for something like a drawer bottom or the flat panel of a false drawer front. It is definitely not structural or intended for complex joinery projects. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by really nice material One side of this plywood is a nice cherry veneer that is reasonably thick. The veneer strips are bookmatched and not very wide, so the pattern has a lot of unnatural repetition. Only one side is usable, the other side is low-grade veneer that chips and splinters and is impossible to do anything with, but with 1/4" plywood, that's not really an issue, you won't use the back anyway.
