This PureBond Walnut Plywood Project Panel features plain-sliced veneers cut from natural timber harvested in a sustainable manner from American hardwood forests, ensuring premium quality, lasting durability and enduring beauty with each sheet. Fortified with a yellow poplar core substrate, the layers of this 5-ply panel are glued together with a cutting-edge PureBond technology derived from soybeans—an environmentally friendly, formaldehyde-free solution that is water-resistant and will not emit airborne contaminants. Precision-cut in 1/2 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. panels with burr-free edges, this decorative walnut plywood is perfect for smaller woodworking projects and serves as a cost-competitive alternative to UF-laden plywood, which is prone to degrade indoor air quality over time by off-gassing toxic fumes. The strength and flatness of these panels gives DIYers and professional tradesmen the confidence to construct a variety of cabinet-grade gems for a lifetime of dependability and enjoyment.

Customer Questions & Answers

In the 3/4" thickness, does this plywood stay pretty flat, or does it warp badly like so much plywood does these days?

Asked by: Jim
Bought three panels. Two were bowed 1/4" over length, one 1/2" over length. They were nowhere near flat and caused me a big headache when making my project.

Grain direction?

Hi can you please confirm the grain on the 2'X4' walnut panels is running in the long (4') direction? Thanks
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, the panels I received had the grain running in the long direction.

Does this plywood have a numerous amount of voids? Could I use it to create a laminated rifle stock?
Asked by: Sean
You would not want to use plywood for a rifle stock. There are some voids, and it is not as dense as solid walnut. I could be wrong, but I wouldn't think it would be good.

can this item 3/4x2x4 walnut plywood be shipped to homedepot eattontown?

Asked by: Anonymous
That would be a good question to ask the home depot store you are wanting it shipped to. These questions go out to customers like you, and there isn't anyway for us to answer that question. Hope that helped.

Now for the bad news. They were not flat. Two panels were slightly bowed (curved) by about 1/4". The other was noticeably bowed by at least 3/8" to 1/2" over the length of it. This was disappointing and caused me a big headache because I was building a dresser that needed precision. I thought plywood was supposed be flat! Beware unless your project allows you to screw them flat.

This product was all good except I had a heck of a time trying to match it with any other Walnut species including actual lumber, veneer, edge banding, etc. I tried everything to work around the tone of this Walnut plywood. The tone was always just a bit off. By itself, it's beautiful, but if you plan on trying to pair it with any other lumber or wood veneers/products, even Walnut, it may not be the way to go. I tried several combinations of stains, dyes, and all kinds of techniques to create a good match, and it just didn't work. I had to abandon their role in the project and go a different direction, but will be using the panels for a different project where the plywood can stand alone. I would recommend that you order a test piece of this product, stain and finish it the way you intend to, and make sure it fits in with your plan before committing to the entire amount needed. That's the mistake I made. Luckily I can salvage the stock, but still be warned of my experience.

Was disappointed and caused me some headaches with my project. However, Columbia Forest Products kindly sent me two more panels, free, to replace the warped ones. Great customer service. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great walnut plywood! This is a great product. I am glad Purebond is getting into this market of higher quality veneer plywoods. These are great with making specific wood projects where you can use hardwood along with the plywood veneer and keep the same wood species. The quality is what you would expect from a lumber yard. It cuts great, with limited tear out, and the grain patterns on the veneer are fantastic. They stain well. The only thing you have to watch out for is that the veneer is very thin to keep the weight down. Other than that, I fully endorse this product. This is a great substitute to use rather than hardwood Walnut since hardwood walnut can sometimes be difficult to cut and mill.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Cross your fingers that you get usable plywood I had high hopes based on the reviews. My Home Depot does not carry Purebond plywood, and I don't have another local source of quality plywood, but I'd heard very good things about Purebond, so I thought I'd give it a try. I ordered 2 sheets of 3/4" walnut plywood, both sheets 4' x 4'. Shipping was $99, so I expected them to arrive in good shape. Unfortunately, all four corners of both sheets were smashed and there were a couple big dents along the sides of one sheet. I had to cut about 2" off both sides of each sheet. In addition, one of the sheets had overlapping plies about 8" from one end that made the entire sheet bulge by about 1/8" along its entire length, so I had to cut that entire side off Both sheets also had a bit of a warp, which I expected, but one was so bowed that laying on my flat workbench, the center was raised by over 1.5". I tried to flatten with water, but was unsuccessful and ended up ruining my project trying to flatten it further. Including shipping the two sheets combined cost over $200, so I'm pretty disappointed that I ended up with about 4/5 of one usable sheet. I've included a few pictures of the problems I saw. I did give it 2 stars, because the quality of the plywood (lack of voids, quality of internal plies, etc.) was definitely better than what I can find at my local Home Depot, but I guess you play roulette on whether you'll actually get a usable piece, and I lost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it! I am very happy with the quality of this wood. The grain looks fantastic on both sides, front and back. I mill, and cut lumber often, and this cut as expected, really nicely. It cut as it should with any high quality lumber. This is also up to the grade of lumber you would see at any normal lumber yard, rather than your local home center. Overall, I wood buy this again for woodworking projects.
