Affordably enhance the aesthetics of your interior space with this beautiful PureBond Aromatic Cedar Plywood Project Panel from Columbia Forest Products. It features decorative hardwood veneers cut from responsibly harvested North American cedar trees, boasting the visual allure of natural wood grains and a pleasant scent that will stir the senses to transform any home or office space. Each 1/4 in. x 2 ft. x 4 ft. panel is precisely cut to exacting standards in a convenient small size to form the foundation for exquisite woodworking creations, including shelves, drawers, cabinets, end tables, toy chests, wall panels and more. The lightweight, all-wood veneer construction features a yellow poplar core substrate layered in alternating cross bands for utmost strength, flatness and rigidity. It's a water-resistant compilation that tolerates moisture better than formaldehyde-bonded plywood, while the 3-ply layering makes it less likely to warp than solid hardwood. The decorative hardwood panel is assembled with a soy-based PureBond technology that won't emit airborne contaminants over time, as UF-constructed plywood is prone to do.

Interested in going over my old laminate counter-top with this to match the cabinets. Just want to make sure it's going to be safe for this particular application.

Answer:
It will not make a good counter top, for it will absorb moisture, food, oils and anything set upon it. If you really like its looks, you could cover it with three coats of clear floor epoxy, which I've used on wood tables, and it will not absorb anything, but you will lose its aroma.

Answer:
I'd bet it's an indoor plywood and not suitable for wet locations. Also, it's a soft plywood with a very thin veneer of cedar as the top ply. I don't think it would hold up on a counter.

Hello Jay,
The Cedar layer on the plywood is thin - 1/32” and not intended for wear that a counter would receive. If you have questions – I can be reached at kcrisp@cfpwood.com. We can discuss other options that may have available.

Answer:
Why not? If you have anything in the closet you won't see the attractive cedar, and its aroma will be reduced. You can put it on the floor.

Answer:
If the intention is to cover the existing wood floor or subfloor then I'd say, "Yes". The cedar is a soft material so I would expect it to get scraped if you store luggage, etc. in the closet if the items are at all heavy and get moved around regularly. If there are just shoes, etc. on the floor then I would not see a problem.

Hello SG,
The Cedar layer on the plywood is thin and really not intended for wear that a floor would receive. It would need to have a thicker Cedar veneer to hold up to foot traffic. If you have questions – I can be reached at kcrisp@cfpwood.com.

Answer:
I would not use it outdoors, for it will absorb rain, even humidity from the air and tend to curl. If you really want to use it outdoors you need to seal it thoroughly, probably with epoxy, and then you will lose its aroma.

Answer:
Hello,
The Cedar Plywood isn’t intended for exterior applications. It’s produced with a water resistant glue – but not a waterproof glue. Typical applications for decorative cedar plywood include furniture, shelving, wall applications, etc. All should be interior applications.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 18 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Aromatic moth deterrent This cedar veneer panel is 1/4” thick, 2-feet by 4-feet. It’s light and easy to handle. It gives off a pleasant cedar aroma, which tends to repel moths. I put it in a closet on the back of a shelf so it is four-feet wide and two-feet high and taking up just 1/4 inch of space at the back of the shelf, where we store blankets and sweaters. It was simple to install, and I think it will protect our blankets and sweaters somewhat from moths, which have been a problem for us. It would be relatively simple to empty the closet, remove the shelves and apply several 1/4” x 2’ x 4’ panels to all the walls of the closet with Liquid Nails or a similar adhesive, thus making a cedar closet. When the cedar aroma has dissipated, perhaps in a few years, I will apply some cedar oil to the panel to restore it. For now, it makes our closet smell good, and I believe that it helps to repel moths. July 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A super purchase. Easy and convienient. I was really pleased with the way the plywood project panel was packaged. It arrived in perfect condition. June 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice cedar veneer panel I bought a wool sport coat some years back and it was ruined by a moth/moths before I knew it. I've been using hanging cedar blocks since then. Since I just invested in a three season wool suit and hate the smell of moth balls and didn't want to trust just the cedar blocks I decided to use cedar lining on my shelves and on the back wall of my closet. I looked at the packages of individual pieces of cedar closet lining and read the reviews and decided to go with these "handy panels" instead. Installing the panel was a breeze and I'll do the rest of the back wall of the closet soon because they smell nice and go up easily. April 20, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cedar Panel The cedar panel is beautiful with the wood grain colors of natural cedar. It is very lightweight & easy to haul around to where you want to install it. This would be a great accent wall or a DIY headboard attached to the wall. Having said that, it doesn't have enough of the cedar aroma I was wanting for my closet. Maybe the entire closet covered in this panel would have more of an impact with the cedar scent. I've gotten the same or more cedar aroma from cedar blocks you can buy to hang in your closet. I don't think it would repel moths for wool clothing. However, it IS beautiful to look at. So, what I wanted it for is probably not the best use in a small quantity. However, If you did a whole closet with these panels & used cedar oils or scented spry to renew the aroma, it would probably work then. June 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product and fast shipping The product shipped very quickly and came packaged well. Thanks! April 19, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected The panels were warped and did not have a cedar smell. Too thin of cedar layer for that. April 14, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great purchase. Just what I needed Built a chest for my daughter and used the panels to line it with. And they worked perfect. April 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Decent Product Truly pleased with this product. Aromatic for sure however did have some warpage yet was not an issue. Perfect for what intended use was for. May consider 1/2 thickness in future orders. Overall customer service was A+. February 7, 2016
