Answer:
Hello,
The light shade is from using a clear poly satin finish. There are multiple types available. For this image we used a minwax product.

Answer:
Hello,
The edges of the plywood are not finished. They are not intended to be exposed like the decorative face of the panel.

Rated 4.9 out of 5 by 22 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect! Very high quality plywood with no defects. Aesthetically, either side could be exposed in any application. I had only a small project to complete, for which a 2' x 2' panel was more than adequate, and less wasteful than buying and cutting down a full 4' x 8' sheet. Order turnaround was exceptional. With just standard shipping, the panel was in my hands 3 business days after placing the order. It had been drop-shipped directly from Columbia Forest Products in NC, and being in MD, I'm not terribly far away. July 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just Right....Size, Grain,Finish and Quality material. It was the perfect piece to create a new top for a very old stand-alone coat closet in the entry of our new home, circa 1865. It came sooooo well packed that there wasn't even a sliver in the wood. I'm saving the packaging box and cardboard panels for other storage. THANKS AGAIN FOR BEING THERE WITH THIS PRODUCT! October 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Red Oak Plywood Panels Bought both 1/4" and 1/2" red oak plywood panels. Both were delivered well packed and without damage. 1/4" panel uses a foam core that crackles when rubbing your hand over it but produces a stiff, flat, lightweight panel. The 1/2" panel has wood plies. The surface finish was very smooth on both and the end result came out very nice. October 11, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Plywood Project Panel This 3/4in.x 2ft.x4ft. Red Oak Plywood is perfect for most small projects. You can carry this size panel in the back seat or trunk. The "half sheet" panel is ideal for handling. Light weight and easy to carry anywhere. The packaging is such that the panel is well protected for shipping and handling. The edges are void free making the edges easy to sand and paint or stain. It’s a water-resistant compilation that tolerates moisture better than formaldehyde-bonded plywood, while the 7-ply layering makes it less likely to warp than solid hardwood. The decorative hardwood panel is assembled with a soy-based PureBond adhesive that won’t emit airborne contaminants over time, as UF-constructed plywood is prone to do. These panels are available in larger sizes. February 29, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Red oak plywood project board 1/4" the wood was well packaged - well cut and straight - just right for my needs - would order again if need arises - 5 stars - when stained it matched my kitchen cabinets perfectly June 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Unusual Use My water cooler once had 1/4 inch plywood around it in the screen slots (where the screen frame goes). Over the years it had disintegrated leaving gaps and holes for bugs to get in. My roommate even put a piece of sheet foam in to close some of the gap. I took a piece of cardboard 2x4 feet, the size of the plywood, to make sure that 2x4 was enough to do the job, and cut it to fit the hole around the cooler. When I got the plywood, I used the cardboard for a template to cut the plywood. I still have some caulking to do on the seams, but it's better than what was there before. October 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very Good Overall, this was a very good quality sheet of plywood. The veener did have one damaged spot (see photo), hence 4 stars. Otherwise it was a very good sheet and was very flat. February 3, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just the right size you need for projects. Here's a product that comes in just the size you need without having to deal with full sheets, extra expense, and waste. It's easier to transport, and not too heavy. I received one of the 2x4 panels, Red Oak, in 3/4" thickness. The 3/4" ply was strong enough to be used as shelving and would work fine for any type of sturdy application. Be sure to use a fine plywood blade in the circular saw to get a nice fine cut, with very little splintering. Edges sanded fine. Veneer is a good thickness. I did not have a chance to finish mine yet, but it appears that both sides of this sheet are ready for some stain and several coats of Varathane (or equivalent). Good quality grain. It handled screws with no issues so the quality of the laminates and layers were good (no pockets). Overall, it got the job done, and looks great to boot! February 8, 2014
