Featuring plain-sliced veneers cut from natural mahogany timber, these 3/4 in. x 4 ft. x 4 ft. panels are perfect for smaller carpentry jobs or finishing off larger furniture-building projects. The core substrate is constructed with yellow poplar and assembled in alternating cross bands for utmost strength, rigidity and flatness in each 7-ply panel. It boasts 100% natural wood (no MDF or particleboard) and is manufactured with a soy-based, formaldehyde-free PureBond adhesive that is water-resistant and will not off-gas any airborne contaminants over time, as UF-laden plywood is prone to do. Put this decorative mahogany plywood to use on your next carpentry project to create elegant hardwood-faced pieces at an affordable price.

Answer:
Hello, It can be used as a desk top. Just know that the Mahogany veneer is thin – 1/50” thick. You will need to finish with a quality/durable finish. We would be able to cut it to you dimensions. Please contact me at kcrisp@cfpwood.com or by phone at 800-637-1609. We can discuss options.

Answer:
Hello Glenn,
The edges of the plywood are best trimmed with solid lumber or some type of edge banding. If you would like a small sample to test – contact Kevin at kcrisp@cfpwood.com and we will get you something to test.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 25 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice piece of ply I'm using this for furniture and this is a nice strong piece of mahogany plywood. The finish is super smooth. This product is not sold in stores so you'll need to order it online. My other half thought I was crazy when I received a cardboard box that contained a piece of plywood, but when there are no local suppliers of this type of material, that's what you have to do. This is furniture grade so use a fine toothed saw blade. April 6, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I was expecting My first impression from the web listing was that this panel would work nicely for the bottom panel of a blanket chest that I am building. I took a chance and ordered it; the price was right and there is nowhere to get quality mahogany plywood anywhere near me. The packaging was done very well and the panel was protected nicely in foam. The panel was not completely flat, it had a slight bow, but nothing drastic. Upon inspection, one side of the panel looked ok, but the other had several spots where the veneer had been sanded through to the next layer by the machines that processed the panel (see photos). Since this was for the bottom panel of my project, I only needed one good side, so I kept the panel and decided to use it. When running my hand across the panel, I could feel slight undulations on the face. After cutting the panel to size, I could see why. There were many voids in the panel the had been filled with what looked like biscuits. These filler pieces were wedged in and pushed the outer layers further out making waves in the panel (see images). I'm guessing this is why the veneer was sanded through. The real pain came when trying to set the panel in the groove around the chest case. I had cut the groove to 23/32" around and tested with the panel prior to discovering the wedges in the voids. The panel fit just fine with the test. Once cut and the poor areas exposed to the edge, the panel was over 3/4" where those wedges were located. This made it a real challenge to install as it was not a consistent thickness. I guess you get what you pay for, but I was hoping for something a little better. Unfortunately, this was the only option in my area. April 18, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Makes a Beautiful Project Mahogany is not available locally and not at all Home Depot stores, I used it to make a case for a serving set I made for my wife, the wood is a bit more expensive than the other woods carried by Home Depot but the results are astounding. My resultant project is absolutely beautiful everyone that has seen it has asked if I'd consider making them one. February 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful veneer! I have used many of these panels with different species of veneer. ALL of them are good quality with few voids. This mahogany and the walnut are the most beautiful veneers so far. I like the maple too, but since it is so hard, it absorbs finish differently than the walnut or mahogany versions. This takes finish well and the natural wood colors "POP" under simple shellac and wax finish. The rotary-cut veneer leaves a very straight grained surface that looks almost too good to be true. Highly recommended! April 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Flat, consistent core, nice veneer I have used many of these panels with different species of veneer. ALL of them are good quality with few voids. This mahogany and the walnut are the most beautiful veneers so far. I like the maple too, but since it is so hard, it absorbs finish differently than the walnut or mahogany versions. The walnut and mahogany veneers work well with shellac or oil-based finishes. This mahogany veneer is rotary cut with a straight grained surface that looks almost too good to be true. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Did what I needed Good quality plywood with uniform grain patterns. Furniture grade. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Piece of Wood I have tried quite a few of these pre-cut pieces of plywood and recommend them all. They are perfect for small projects and have a terrific all natural look to them. I use these for making small signs of folk art. The wood is easy to cut, and drill holes in for the leather hanger. You can use these for many wood projects. I made a nice 2 tier lazy Susan with this plywood for my 2 and 4 oz. acrylic craft paint bottles. Plus, it has a nice, smooth surface which needs little sanding before painting or precision lettering. It also takes stain and other finishes easily and it looks gorgeous when finished. Some varieties had more wood grain than others, depending on what type of wood you choose. I loved the smell of the cedar one, and the contrast of the light and dark grain really was unique. It gave the project a more interesting look. March 7, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Venner I've gone though a lot of purebond plywood. I mostly use it for shop fixtures and jigs - so it gets a lot of use. I've never had any issues with delaminating and while I have come across voids, they are few and far between. I had a specific purpose for this panel, but the veneer is not good. This looks like a really low grade Mahogany substitute like meranti. Maybe that's why the species isn't even spelled correctly in the listing (what's "Mohagany"?). I'm not looking for gorgeous figure here, but something resembling a true mahogany would be nice. However because this is decent ply and I only need one show face, I am just going to use it as a substrate and veneer it myself. On the bright side shipping was good. I'm always nervous when getting sheet goods delivered but Columbia/Home Depot do a really good job packing these up March 16, 2016
